2023 Portal Recruiting (CLOSED)

He's played 3 games in 2 seasons. Reconstructive shoulder surgery twice. I don't imagine he will be able to have any contact in spring ball. Was a helluva player for 2 seasons for Hogs. Emphasis on WAS.
So you would recommend the hard pass? Damaged goods?

Sounds like Catalon is going to sign with Texas.
If healthy that is a huge get.  Instant starter, imo.

CB Watts

CB Brooks

Spur Barron

S Catalon

S Thompson/BJ Allen

2nd team

CB Muhammad

CB Jordan

Spur Gilbeau

S D. Williams

S BJ Allen / Thompson

3rd team

Crawford, Brice, Turner-Gooden

lots of flexibility.  Barron and Gilbeau could slide into a true CB role and Gooden slide to Spur

Wake Forest transfer will play.

Really like our CBs. 3 or 4 of those guys have ability to play in NFL.
Hope Catalon gets healthy.
I remember having to wait on Shipley, Whit and others to recover from injuries. It can happen.

Listened to a podcast last week that mentioned that Gilbeau isn't coming back. Had not hear it anywhere else but also did not see him in the Alamo bowl. Anyone heard anything?

I thought he was injured and out for the remainder.  I could be wrong though.  Heard Sark even praise his play this year. Would be a loss if he leaves.

Which podcast?

He was with the team in San Antonio.

I saw him in one of the Sea World videos.

Texas Homer I believe. They were interviewing Eric Nahlin (sp) from IT. He just made a statement that he wasn't sure if Gilbeau was returning. I had missed that he was injured so is likely that he was referring to his returning in time for the bowl game. That is why I asked since I figured the board would know more. Thanks for the clarifications.

I think taking a flyer on Catalon is a no brainer. If it doesn’t work, oh well. Hopefully for that young man, he can get healthy wherever he ends up.
Saw him play when he was healthy. It's an understatement to say that I was really impressed. Hope he can stay healthy for himself first and foremost and also sign with the good guys.
