2023 Portal Recruiting (CLOSED)

Karic got a lot of snaps this year as a 6th O-line/blocking TE.

I'm not sure where he fits next year but clearly he was the 6th best linemen this year - would push for the RT job for sure.
I understand that, but I think the younger guys will pass him by and I think he may see that.  I could easily see him decide to go to another program for significant, starting PT.  I know I would think about it.

I see him sticking through Spring to see how things shake out. If it appears as though he isn't cracking the starting 5, then I could see him going elsewhere.  If he wins a spot then he stays. I absolutely can see him fighting to earn something here because I think that is his character.

IT expects six to eight transfers before the bowl game, majority of those being a mutual parting of ways due to lack of playing time.

One player will be a surprise, but not someone who is irreplaceable.
I wouldn’t be surprised if their surprise portal guy is a BIG dl who is played quite a bit and will be a SR next year but hasn’t seemed to fulfill his promise yet.  That or another highly touted DL who will be a RE Jr. Next year but seems to have been passed over. I sure hope I’m wrong on my first guess but both could be helpful next season.

YEs, I do agree with you on this. I think he can give the young guys a tough challenge with the experience he has on them. They have size on their side but he has lots of game snaps.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling for the young man to win the RT spot.  Would love someone with experience manning that position.  I'm curious what will happen between Cole Hutson and DJ Campbell.  Could Hutson slide into the C position and battle Majors for it?  Could he slide out to RT.  I don't think there is anyway to keep DJ Campbell out of the starting 5 next year at the G position.  I thought Connor did a pretty good job at LG.  The weakest part of the OL Majors and Hutson and both weren't bad either.  If DJ gets his pass pro together then look out.  Would be cool to have him and Banks together on the left side.

I was thrilled when Angilau was getting time at center in the preseason.  But I have to say, Majors played pretty well this year!  Take away the bakers dozen double clutch snap penalties and he’s a really solid starter.

Agreed - and the veteran presence he brought to the younger O-Lineman was also important
