It’s ok I accept the fact you have never understood the point of my original post. And I didn’t start the name calling you did. But apparently in you mind I am in the wrong here. However reading thru most of your post throughput game you tend to dwell in the negative. If you don’t respond to this I am cool, and I will continue to be positive about the future of Tha Horns like always. Try it sometime… peace out
All is well on my part.I did not watch the game so would be hard to comment on it I consider my self to be neither positive or negative. Try to see as things are.And just for the record I never called you a name.

Glad you are cool. Hookum.

Eastex, 82Horn is calling Ewers a Freshman because the entire year he was at Ohio State should have been his Senior year of high school. At OSU he ran scout team, I believe. In high school, he would have been the #1 QB.

I tend to think he was rusty when he got to Texas & he was the equivalent of a freshman.  That is reality.

A person can twist it, turn it, or play it however they want, but those are the facts.

I have always said that it was a mistake for Ewers to skip his senior year in high school. No one has ever convinced me otherwise.

To be fair, some of us have tried being positive for about for the last 13 years.  When you say future exactly how long into the future are you talking about?  1 year? 20 years?   I tried being positive about the future of the team after we beat Georgia in the sugar bowl in 2019. How did that turn out?  I might be fertilizing the daisies soon so excuse some of us if we don’t want another 13 years of let downs.  This whole negative vs positive crap is silly.

Thanks Java for peace making attempt. But tell me something I do not know.Agree it's facts you say.

Tnen Ewers is a R.S. freshman is a fact also. And that is what startedthis whatever it is.

Ewers is in an unusual situation because of his talent, I agree.  Ewers has arm talent and strength that cannot be taught.

He will be back on schedule, I would think, by next year.  2023 will prove me right or wrong.

Just my opinion if Manning enrolls early he will beat Ewers out after a couple of games.

Went through the whole game thread to read all my negative posts. both of them one praising Ford other saying Manning would be in QB mix next year.

Ewers sat the bench for every single game. The backup to the backup to the backup.
That is a redshirt year.
That’s a fact.
Oh yeah, nobody pays 1m NIL for that.

Sigh whatever.

I don’t lump the Sark era in with Mack’s last years, Strong, or Herman. What happened then has only soured some of our fans.

When Sark took over this program, it had culture problems. It was also very under developed and under recruited in the offensive line. Not a lot of quality depth in many positions. We have seen this team become more physical and tougher on both lines of scrimmage this year. Starting two true freshman lineman, basically a freshman QB has led to some growing pains. This bodes well for next couple of years, as the younger more talented recruits continue to fill in, grow and develop.

Nothing is ever perfect, and I am a long term fan of this program. I attended my first game in 1977 and watched Earl Campbell live, so I have seen many highs and lows.

Bottom line we are recruiting at a high level, however unlike past regimes we are building from the line of scrimmage out. The development of the Lines will be key to the continuing rise of this program, and seems like this entire staff is embracing that.

Actually what Java said is true, you still missed the point I was trying to make. Is QE a redshirt freshman ?Yes… but he is basically a freshman. A distinction in my mind when it comes to his development. And the point I was trying to make is development. Is QE the guy ? Who knows, I firmly believe we find out next year during Arch Manning’s redshirt year. And I firmly believe this staff intends to redshirt Arch Manning.

All, I hope they redshirt Arch. Most successful QB’s are redshirted, for example, Colt and Vince.  The extra year of strength training and maturity also helps protect them from injury.

82Horn, I was trying to make the point that Ewers is a Freshman according to age, but according to eligibility, he moved ahead.

I don’t think that I can make that clearer.  I believe the senior year of high school is very important for numerous reasons.  Most people need the senior experience, athlete or not.

You say Sark had to fix the culture issues but the exact same thing was said when Strong took over and also when Herman came in.  Yet nothing changed.  Never heard that before.  Strong and Herman both recruited great as well.  I dont know the number of top 10 classes but there were multiple Top 10 classes for both of them.  Your argument is based on the premise the future looks bright so stop being negative yet it has been 13 years of let downs so spare me.

Charlie is a defensive minded coach, The quarterback whisperer who mentored Bridegwater, Herman is MENSA, blah blah blah.  Your arguments have been recycled for over a decade.  Nothing has changed as of YET.  Strong had a stout defense his first year.  Was it indicative for the next 5 years?  Absolutely not.

For the love of God I hope it is different but you flaming people for being negative is hilarious.  All you do is point to the future and parrot the same words we have been hearing for 13+ years.  All of the let downs and the Sams "WERE BACK" comments have not come fruition so yea if people are skeptical they have good reason to be.   So you can spare me the the self righteous real fans are positive crap.

Earl! Saw him throw a TD pass to beat Texas High ( best team ever had) 7-0.1946 listened B. Layne in single wing. Next year was a T formation QB.

I will add this argument is starting to stray off course.  It started with people pointing out Ewers mistakes and now has evolved into a pissing match over what the future holds of which we all guessing.

Let it go. Just because we've shit the bed a few times before doesn't mean this is another clean up on isle 13.

Nobody on this board knows whether or not we're back. Sam was foolish for saying that after beating Georgia's back ups in the Sugar bowl.

Strong sucked as a recruiter and as a coach. We knew this because we saw this. He began recruiting a month before signing day. Herman was a legend in his own mind. These are mistakes that previous AD's have made.

Sark has done nothing to earn a comparison with Strong or Herman. I was not one who expected instant conference title. We were in a very bad way when Sark arrived. We were starting walk ons at some positions.

Sark recruited TWO #1 QBs in back to back years. Could Strong or Herman ever hope to do that? No, Herman had one tell him to go F himself despite that player having grown up wanting to be a Horn.

This is a situation with our program that hasn't played out. Rendering a verdict is way premature. There's no reason to be upset, no reason to celebrate. We're on a path and this requires the same patience you've shown for almost 20 years.

I do like the things that I see. I see recruiting done the right way, needs being addressed. I see a program that has overcome it's problems, such as collapsing in the 2nd half.

As long as we see that stuff, we have reason for hope. I understand you're position and don't begrudge you for it. But I hope you realize things are changing for the better.

I don't think you understand the position as well as you could.

Manning will redshirt. This will benefit Manning to be in the "system" a year before being asked to do anything meaningful.

You keep harping around about Ewers being a redshirt. He redshirted in the Ohio State system, not Texas. So he's the same as a freshmen in reality. He got here and had to start all over learning a new system.

Manning is a high school senior. No, he's not going to walk in and start after a few weeks. lol
