*****GAME THREAD - #21 TEXAS LONGHORNS vs. UTSA ROADRUNNERS*****

In the presser, Sark said QB was deemed to be a defenseless player which makes the bar for targeting much lower. Perhaps because of this new interpretation of defenseless?

I hate the call because there was literally nothing else for DO to do. He kept his head up and it is pretty obvious he had no intent.

It seems you could call the QB a defenseless player for most of any play except the first 5 seconds when they snap the ball.

Hope the kinks are worked out before Dallas. We want yals best. We played a good game against Nebraska. Given Nebraskas current situation, we were expecting a closer game with all the pre game and early emotion in the stadium. It was rocking but after a couple quick scores, the crowd was never really a factor. Our defense is bought in and looks scary good. Hope Ewers is back in time.

The worst thing is that O will miss the first half of next week's game unless the call is reversed on review. That won't happen. ?

Agreed!! I'd give it a 0% chance the league officials will overturn a call that might benefit Texas no matter how bad it was.?

If Texas or Oklahoma do well and make it to a good bowl, the Big 12 makes money.  They would be fools not to reverse a bad call.

Lowell Galindo sucks as an announcer.  Paired with Sam, it is intolerable.

I think Lowell believes he needs to add excitement to the game.  He needs to stop talking.

Sark seems to have him under control on his show.  Lowell doesn’t blather on or ad lib there.

IMO, he is intolerable. When I’m watching at home, I turn off sound & listen to radio when I’m at home.

I did not see the game only listened to it on SiriusXM so I got the Craig Way homer call, but Im convinced we can be a run first, throw when needed with Card at the helm. He did a good job at taking care of the ball and he hit the open guy in crucial situations, also sounds like his play action was superb...Bijan showed he is a legit homer threat every time he touches the ball, dont know if we have ever had a back at Texas that has his legit speed, Ricky and Earl could take it to the house on any given play but BR is flat out faster...

The thing that concerns me is our pass defense, UTSA cut up UT in the first half. I worry that teams like OU will do the same

Bijan doesn’t have the top end speed that Ricky had.  He’s fast, but not that fast.  What makes him special are his eyes and feet.

coverage has been suspect at times, but poor tackling has allowed 3 yards catches turn into 12 yards and moving the chains.

I'd say Jamaal Charles was one of the fastest backs, but definitely didn't have the power the other great ones possessed.

Just watched the postgame pc for both coaches. Reaffirmed my confidence in Sark but also made me wonder why we ever let Traylor go. That guy is big time imo. He will get offers from some big programs. Hope UTSA can find a way to keep him.

Here is the play, I couldn't find a good replay slo-mo or other angles.

The new rule says QB is 'defenseless' if throwing the ball or in a throwing posture with eyes down the field. basically, you can't just tee off on the QB who is passing or looking to pass.

To me, this replay shows the QB see DO coming, pull the ball down and start an attempt to avoid him.

okay pulled the clip thanks to Nash Talks Texas on Youtube.

Lots of slo-mo angles. Tell me the QB doesn't pull the ball down, and start to try and turn to escape the pocket. In that instance he is a runner and not a defenseless player.

Bijan 4 49 in the 40 compared to Ricky 4.56.....I would say thats pretty fast

Bijan doesn’t run like that in pads.  In fact there were recruiting sites that listed Bijan’s 40 time as a 4.7.  I’m not knocking him, he just doesn’t seem to have the top end, break away speed some others have had.  I’ve seen him run down from behind some.  If Worthy wasn’t running with him he’s tackled on the 10 on his long run last night.  What makes him special is his vision and his burst.  He’s full speed in 2-3 steps.  Ricky clocked a 4.38 a few times. I remember seeing that.  That was impressive.

I would actually say they are both great backs I’ve had the pleasure of rooting for.  It’s sad that Bijan will be gone next year.
