Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Omg, I remember John.  His family (and him) lived next door to one of my HS school girlfriends.  I remember the night I first met him. I was over at my girlfriends house around Christmas time and there was a bad accident right outside on the main road (road to Comfort, Tx).  We all went outside to see it and that's when i first met John.  The interesting point to the whole story is that while I was hanging outside with John, I had no idea that my brother was in the car accident (his girlfriends mother car).  He wasn't seriously hurt, but his girlfriend was.  Wow, I forgot about that night.

Is there any reporting or notes on today's practice / scrimmage?
paraphrasing from TFB

– This was the sixth practice

– Ran 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams through 45 mins of live scrimmage.

– Both offense and defense had their moments, big plays. Offense had several long TD passes. Defense had a pick six.

– Defense won the end of practice red zone scrimmage. Offense had to do push ups.

– No additional injuries. Omeire still suiting out but not playing. Juan Davis in the same boat. Murph is out of his boot but not playing yet.

– Below has been the OL starters in the last couple of days and was how it was today:

  • LT — Andrej Karic
  • LG — Junior Angilau
  • C — Jake Majors
  • RG — Hayden Conner
  • RT — Christian Jones

– Lots of moving around, mixing and matching going on. But the starters are starting to solidified.

– Collins and Finkley manned the DE spots. Sweat and Coburn were inside. Sorrell and Ovie were getting reps at DE, too.

– Still experimenting at LB, different combinations.

– The secondary:

  • CB – D’Shawn Jamison
  • CB – Ryan Watts
  • nCB – Jahdae Barron
  • S – Anthony Cook
  • S – Kitan Crawford

– Terrance Brooks and Jamier Johnson were getting reps at CB, too.

– Card had a good showing today. Had a nice pass to Worthy for a score. Was a perfect pass.

– Ewers had some impressive plays. Long completion to newbie Nayor on a flag route. Ewers also had a go route pass for a TD.

– Watts had a pick six . . . a Ewers pass.

– In two TE personnel, it was Sanders and Billingsley in that set.

– Abiara got a sack.

Two take aways from this.

1. Great to see Cain not only adjust in mid air to make a 1 handed catch.

2. Ewers almost over threw a 6'4" guy that made a great adjust to lauch himself and make a 1 handed catch or a defender.

1. Great to see Cain do anything.

2. That was the only way that pass could be thrown without it being an INT.

Just a couple of notes from TFB's practice report, with info coming from a coach who was at practice.

1. Kitan Crawford is going to be a star at safety. He is standing out in a big way.

2. Cook is playing well as Crawford's partner.

3. Bijan is looking better than the last time you saw Bijan. Apparently, this is possible.

4. Said Card looked better Saturday, but Ewers had some nice long passes. OL is a problem, so far. This has not helped the QBs.

Can't go far without an OL.
