Sorry. A lil gun shy after last year's cycle. We were high on everyone's list early on then they started dropping like flys. Now we're hearing that Dewberry who was with Campbell and Banks as " must get" is loving him some tOSU and probably out of this class.

Ok, I'll be patient.
The story with Dewberry has always been Ohio State is too far, and it's likely a A&M/Texas battle.

I'll let you know if I see if that narrative has changed after his visit to Columbus.

Perroni said this caught the aggy and LSU staff's off-guard so who knows??
He's been showing Texas a ton of love since his official visit, but admittedly I don't follow his Instagram so maybe he's been doing the same for A&M and LSU.

I've never felt Texas' chances were legit, but I'm always up for a pleasant surprise.

Silent, Verbal, and Signed (thanks to the portal) all have the potential to be a temporary decision. I think the only benefits to having a verbal or signing a good class is the momentum it creates for other prospects.
Everything is so much different now than it was 10-15 years ago when Mack would fill a class on Junior day. All of the schools fight the same issue to some extent. Proximity to home has become less relevant, the players still want to go to a good program but they want to be a star or focal point. If your team underperforms players will leave. If a team wins a championship but the player doesn’t get to shine they will leave. Coaches are basically having to continue recruiting the kids until they graduate. It’s exhausting.

Each year we seem to move farther away from the “team” concept. Individualism is ruining college sports just as it has professional.

I feel sorry for these kids when they finally realize they aren’t actually special in the big scheme of things. We all come to that realization at some point as adults but it’s proving to be especially rough on the “me” generation.
Just saying.
Good post Ricky and I think you’re 100% correct. It’s really expanded the budgets of these Universities for recruiting. It takes a huge very organized staff to pull off what Texas has pulled off this last month.
Yes it’s been argued 1,000 times about these kids dropping their team and “opting” out of the bowl game. I see both sides of the argument but you start in early summer with your team and when it gets to the end they decide not to play. Most of these kids aren’t even high round draft picks. It was carried to a new level when Tylan Wallace opted out at halftime of Oklahoma St bowl game. It’s a different era now.

I can say he legitimately had a good time on his visit here. It surprised him at how much he enjoyed himself. We made quite an impression.

He's been aggy for a while, but I think we have a better than puncher's chance here.
