I'd simply start recruiting other backs, immediately. Yes, he's a '23 recruit, so there's no telling who actually emerges as the back you'd prefer to have at UT. This was too early for UT, IMO.Eh, 2023. I'd consider any 23 kid not committed. Texas is still in the thick of things with him. He just committed to early.
Tell me if this sounds like a broken record since 2011, "Texas needs to do something on the field next year and the top recruits will come. Winning takes care of itself."
It's time to stop underachieving and actually win for a change. Everything else will work out if they start winning. Beat the TCU's, Baylor's, TT's and ISU's and they put themselves in contention of the B12 title and more. Kids will come then. I didn't include OU above because while I believe Texas can beat them, it will not be expected next year.

Beat who you're supposed to and make "all gas no brakes" work and Arch will be a LonghornIT had an update on QB Arch Manning while he's on his visit to Alabama this weekend:
- they believe this is Clemson vs. Texas, and that the Longhorns lead
- the reasons (i.e. Sark) the Mannings loved Alabama are now in Austin
- the Mannings love the idea of having a Texas legacy in the family
- there shouldn't be a summer announcement, and there is a ways to go
