2019 Recruiting Board/Thread

Wiltfong thinks Baylor is in the thick of it to flip Powell.
personally, if he isnt interested to play Defense, i am not sure when the staff pushed for him in O. clearly they see something, to give him a shot at "QB." there are much better WR prospects in 2020, much better. he is a good prospect if he can play big Nickel.

Yeah I like his upside at DB somewhere.  Great blend of size and speed + athleticism to be a playmaker.

Sounds like Powell wants to play QB.  If that's the case then good luck at Baylor or Tech.  Don't think he's any better than Shawn Robinson but oh well.  Could probably be a stud DB.

Looks like Herman has a chance to seal the deal with his in home visit with Sanders. The visit he had with Georgia opened up his eyes that he doesn’t have to go to Alabama

No doubt. Our coaching staff is swinging for the fences with stud, out of state recruits(Sanders, Cain and Bru). They may miss on all three but I trust their acumen recruiting wise. They have a plan. Running backs are not that hard to come by. Cain has always seemed a little odd, recruiting wise, not wanting to be part of a three back class. Our depth is definitely in need of a boost. Herman and Drayton will address it. As I said before, let’s see how this shakes out. When haven’t they addressed a glaring need? We aren’t giant killers... yet. Wolfing is the only CB for Penn State by the way and he does miss every once in a while... no need to freak out.

We are going miss out on all 3 of Cain, McCoy, and Sanders.  And don't get your hopes up on the JUCO RB, he's all OU on twitter.  Bummer.

Yeah, we need more five star running backs like D’ontae Foreman... I would worry more about our offensive line than the running backs. We will be fine.

Last year it was defensive linemen. This year it is running backs. We have another two months to come up with depth at running back.  I have no doubt Herman and Co. will reel in what is needed. They are great evaluators of talent and are well versed on the recruiting trail.

The potential depth or lack of if at RB is a concern right now with attrition expected at the position.

The latest intel Cain is not favorable which comes as a bit of a surprise to me. Things seemed to be coming up Texas coming out of the OV.

And while I know some are downplaying the RB depth chart, I’ll reiterate that Texas is probably going to lose a few bodies in that meeting room this offseason.

The final push is not looking good right now..

Hookfin

Caleb Johnson

Other than that not looking good with any of the top targets

I know Herman and staff are working their butts off out on the recruiting trail, but they need to start hitting some of these guys at the end. Seems we get flirted with but can't seem to close. Not sure why, but that's what it seems like. I wish we had one or two more elite recruiters on the staff. One of those guys that ranks tops in the rankings every year in recruiting. I'm sure we'll end up with a top 10 or so class (which is real good) but we need to get up there with that top handful of teams if we want to start being in contention for the playoffs every year. Maybe we will. I'm hoping

So based on all the intel from all the boards as of today it looks like

NO

Cain

Sanders

Bru

So when the intel said yes to all three, it was never "yes" to anyone.

This is the strangeness of the Longhorn Nation. Good news or potential good news is rejected and we wait until it trends bad before we buy into it.

We have been groomed to expect disappointment, even though we seldom really experience it. And even though the in-homes TH will have could change everything all over again in this cycle.

I'll wait and see how this plays out.

Yeah, there's no way of sugar coating the depth issue at RB right now. If Porter and Carter transfer (very likely), we could be looking at a roster of Keaontay Ingram, Daniel Young, and then true freshmen plus that 5'5" PWO we took last year. I'm counting any playing time by Houston or K. Johnson as found money at this point.

I'd like to see the staff try and rope in Asa Martin, but that wouldn't help out until 2020.
