5 Thoughts Following The Win Over TCU

Except for going for it on fourth down in our own territory play calling was pretty damn good today.
So for this TCU game our first half drivers were...Missed FG, turnover on downs, TD, punt, FG, turnover on downs, and punt. That is acceptable offensive football for you?

Huge win but completely agree regarding the K-State game. If they take care of business like they should and when they're favored, then I'll allow myself to start throwing back some pints of burnt orange kool-aid.

It sure tastes good when we win.

To be fair to Mike he did pull back a little on his original pronouncement. I’m sure he’s as happy as we all are.
Yep... it's pretty easy to slip into fire everybody mode when things have been bad for so long.

I felt like that when ou whipped us 63-14, cause I didn't think a good coach would ever get beat like that.  Of course Mack would go on to prove a lot of people wrong. Either way we all have different points where we hit bottom and don't think the coaches can coach their way out.

Herman was definitely in dicey territory, but they are finally starting to show the improved play he kept saying was there in practice. Any talk of moving on at this point was premature, but it's also kinda therapeutic. Just gotta be careful to not plant that flag too deep, because then it becomes difficult to enjoy success later if it comes.

Hey MBHORSNFAN is Herman still done, finished and over? Honestly do you think this is just a blip on the radar and he's for sure still gone? Cause you seemed pretty damn sure.

Never go full aggy.... Did we win a championship? Nope.... Good win for sure. Thank goodness for Orlando because Herman tried to give the game away with his shitty playcalls on 3rd & 1 twice and again on 4th & 1.....

You really shouldn’t care whether it is acceptable to me or not.

By not just saying you were wrong, it is you who've gone full aggy my man.

Because you were wrong. Tom Herman is not finished. Not close.

Nobody is saying we won a championship. Or that he'll win one anytime soon. But he aint go nowhere fast.

Blah blah.. I don't give a shit about any coach. I am loyal to my university. This is not the University of Tome Herman... It's the University of Texas.... Coaches come and go...

No one went full aggy. Most of us are still wondering if we still suck.

we're 3-1 and have not won anything yet so yeah.. When we actually win something say like the Big 12 then we won't suck anymore... Only aggy hangs fake banners.

Ok gents. Let’s take a step back. Enjoy the 3-game win streak and leave the name calling to other fan bases and message boards. Good win tonight with KState on the horizon.  A win next week puts Texas in a good spot heading to the State Fair.

Enjoy. HookEm

I have a 6th thought to add.  Keep the Oline the same the rest of the year (barring injury).  Keep Elijah R. at C and Shack on the bench.  Elijah's snaps are on the money and this line is starting to become a cohesive unit.  Also, Jeffrey McCulloch at B-backer has elevated the defense.  He is a menace and adds a lot more speed.  The defense has just gotten better and better with him on the field.

I thnk it is ludicrous to criticize the play calling when the offense moved the ball aganst a very good defense. Watching that game I was pissed at how many drives could have been extended had th QB ever been able to deliver the ball where the receiver could cach it in stride. To blame the play caller for bad execution seems to be a recipe for disillusionment.

If every lay worked, no punt or field goal would ever be needed. So many of the plays that turned out badly, could have gone for gains had the ball been put where I was needed.

Yeah

Yeah I agree, the other week I was complaining about Collin Johnson not getting yards after the catch. while I still think that’s a huge part of who is he, Sam is just awful at placing the ball for his receivers to get those extra yards.

he is good enough to win us a lot of games but I don’t see him as the sports center qb of the week ever.

Agree on the OL though this week was the first time I couldn’t see the tackles have a tough time on the edges. TCU’s athletic ends were giving them some problems.

Also agree on McCulloch. If he can provide those kinds of minutes with Roach out then Texas will be just fine.
