The Good, The bad and The Ugly: Maryland

Where is the U. Houston offense Herman had going there for two years?

Also what's wrong with up tempo all the time?

It's come to my attention the new red shirt rule allows four games without losing a year. I'd like to see Cameron Rising on the field. If they don't lose a year, why not get game-speed experience? At least.

Changing fortunes go this way:
0-1 Horns host Tulsa, 7 pm kick, on LHN
1-0 Aggie hosts #2 Clemson, 6pm kick, on ESPN

Herman better realize the rest of the season he's got a recruiting class on the line.

In four of the next five weeks he faces USC, TCU, K-State and OU.
If I were him I would not want to hold the next 5 press conferences like he did yesterday.

Let’s just hope our squad doesn’t try too hard against USC, TCU and OU!  Those could get ugly.

Bowl eligibility could be gone quickly. Isn't eligibility  the goal of UT football now days?

Recruiting rankings from 24/7.

2014  Texas rank 17 Maryland 41

2015 Texas 10 Maryland 47

2016 Texas 7 Maryland 41

2017 Texas 25 Maryland 18

2018 Texas 3 Maryland 28

Looks like recruiting and having a real HC is overrated.

On the same page here.  Not sure if Herman plans to coach football or just talk a lot of football. If the team was over-thinking on the slow start, can see where they got the habit.

Is Vince Young available to be an offensive coordinator? He has to be the best player-coach I've seen. Far as I can recall, he took over the team when Mack decided to get out of the way and turn him loose.

Two that I miss (when remembering the best of times): Greg Davis and Duane Akina.  Life was pretty good when they were around.
Love Vince as a player, but he was not know a student of the game. Part of the reason he didn't last in the NFL was the lack of studying film.

He did forgo his senior year, so if he could be a player-coach then your talking. We would have Vince at QB and he probably would do better Tim Beck as OC.. :)

Tom's OC at Houston was Major. Tom's OC at Houston was not Beck.......that is all....
And I STIL don't understand why Herman wasn't able to bring Major with him. Surely they could have paid him as much to b the OC here as he's making to be the HC at Houston.

I think Major’s other “troubles” here weren’t going to allow Herman to bring him back with him.

Head coach at Houston is a much better job than OC at Texas. Especially since Major has already been OC at UT.

Not only do you have a recruiting advantage at Houston compared to other teams in your conference, it also can lead to a better job elsewhere. Briles, Sumlin, and Herman is proof of that.

No doubt.  I am still reeling from it.  What makes it worse is this is becoming anual event.  I know its just a game but FFS it has me bumming hardcore.

Herman helped UH he also won a NC at tOSU but why is it I am beginning to feel it doesnt matter who the coach is we are stuck in mediocrity.  Someone put a voodoo curse on us.
Don't want to pile on, but UH's best year under Herman was year 1. He didn't build that team, Tony Levine did.  I realize he was probably distracted after he beat OU week 1 of year 2, he was probably already in negotiations with UT, but UH didn't even play in the AAC Conference Championship that year. They got beat by Navy, SMU, & Memphis.

As for Ohio St, Herman won a NC with a 3rd string QB; you can't take that away from him. But he also had Ezekiel Elliot. He made Dak Prescott look like a stud, we saw what happened when Zeke didn't play.

I thought you guys would do what A&M ended up doing and money whip some guy with a at least a 10 year track record at HC like Dabo or Chris Peterson; or really swing for the fences with a Jimbo, Urban, Saban, or Patterson hire. I was shocked when Herman was announced as the guy, but the hype was there. He beat OU and FSU with inferior talent. Imagine what he could do at UT?! Texas will figure it out, but I don't think it'll be with TH at the helm.

I know it's Arizona, but Applewhite and Houston look unstoppable right now...IF Herman doesn't work out, I'm totally ok if we go and get The Major
