Football practices - any info?

I'm not privy to practices, so I only quote what I am told.  As far as Tyrone, who else would you have suggested should have played in front of him?  Heard?  And when did I praise Watson?  By-the-way, Swoopes was the leading scorer/rusher on the team his last year here.  Tells you a lot about how bad the team was.

You can believe me or not - I'm not paid to report backside info, I just do it for board interest.  If it upsets you I will quit doing it.
Well, you said to trust me. I don't your source just because he's watching practice especially he or she differs from other sites. Besides that
I don't care if your source is reporting the Elinger is throwing the ball like Johnny Unitas and Buechle looks like Johnny Utah it's practice. Practice is not going to tell us if Elinger is going to fumble or throw a  interception in the fourth quarter or either QB will have injury problems. Your reports will not tell on how our OL is going to do this year and the Tim Beck situation which could also affect the QBs.

You may want to check your facts, Swoops wasn't on the team last year. Mack wasted his red shirt his freshman year. Ellinger was the team's leading rusher last year. The previous two years it was a Donata Foreman.

Your post does not upset me. I have been in fine emotional health since I've read it. Just because I don't agree with you does not mean I'm upset. You have a right to post what you want and I have a right to disagree with you.

You can't have it both ways.  Bashing Swoopes, who stayed erect his entire career or bashing Buechele for being hurt all the time.  There seems to be no way to please you.
I disagree with you saying I'm bashing the players.. It's a fact that Swoops was not a good QB and Buechle has has injury issues. It's the same if I said Kirk Johnson has been injury prone at UT. That's a fact.

As far as no pleasing me we have a record of 53-48 for the last 8 years. I guess I'm just spoiled. :)

Look, that is what I was told.  What is your major malfunction?
Major malfunction? I'm not a robot. B)

I have a better source than you and my source is not as positive as your source. My source is Tom Herman and when he is asked a simple question about the talent on the team, he has a deer in the headlight look.

What I saw is a coach trying to not to praise his talent in case we have a bad a year or he really doesn't think much of our talent. Either way it doesn't give me great confidence going in the season.

However, I do believe we can win 8-9 games if things go right.

I guess I just don't get all the pessimism this year. Maybe it's all those years rooting for a miserable Rangers team, I had to find the silver lining.

I choose to be optimistic, there will be plenty of time for pessimism if things go wrong during the season.

Gentlemen, calm down.

Primal D – even if you don't believe a word Doc shares with us, what else are you going to do? Its friggin 100 outside and I'm so tired of the same story lines from the mainstream sources. I welcome Doc's info and always look forward to seeing if he's right or wrong later. I happen to know Doc is pretty well connected and has been right often. You're free to do as you wish of course. But you might consider giving him some slack.

Doc – Primal D is my long lost brother. How dare you raise your voice to him (it was printed, but I can tell such things). I kid. I kid. Your contribution is way welcome on this board. I always perk up when you post. That said, try to be a little understanding of PD. Its been a long summer and I think we're all ready to burst some blood veins in our foreheads if the season doesn't start soon.

Now, all that really did was piss you both off at me. he he But I love ya'll anyway.

You need to start reading a little closer.  I said Swoopes was the leading rusher on HIS last year.  Look, I responded the way I did because you seemed so antagonistic towards all my comments.  My reports are ALWAYS 3rd hand at best.  I've stated this time and again.  If you have followed me at all, you would have noticed that I generally gave info long before it was reported on other sites.  Just on these few topics I reported what is being said about Ingram and Buechele, which two days later turned out to be facts.  So, in essence, this site actually got two scoops.  I'm not trying to bang my drums, just pointing out that you need to start paying more attention.  Yeah, while you are re-reading my comments you might have noticed the title of this thread as well.  Seems you overlooked it, also.  It was about practice info only, not who played well years ago or who will play well this season.  And, yeah, I DO have better info than you.  Sorry.

But we can still be friends, right?  :)

all I can say is I enjoy both of ya'lls posts. Generally you both seem to know quite a bit about the game. Keep em coming.

That said....the very last guy I would expect to get any useful info from would be Tom Herman. Nothing against Tom, I just take "coach speak" with a grain of salt. Why in the world would anyone expect the coach to lay out what he really thinks of his team. It would ALWAYS work against him. If Boyles asked me a question I would have a blank stare as well. I would not dream of giving that dumb SOB any useful info what ever. Boyles and Chip Brown are not friends of this program.

Swoops never led the team in rushing. Anyway I don't want our QB to lead the team in rushing.

Nothing personal I just posted on your post that I disagreed with. I never thought for a moment that we weren't friends. UT fans need to stick to stick together through good times and bad times. This eight year run is worst than the McWillams- Mackovic years Hopefully, that ends this year.

Well, if you gave the same dumb stare as Herman then I'm glad your not the head coach at UT..  There's a difference between Bohls the writer and Reggie Bush lover than a guy who ask a question. If that had been a question as from a Horn Sports writer that ask that question it wouldn't have changed a thing. That was not a gotta question. The whole purpose of a press conference is inform the fans, so they will buy tickets, watch on TV, and longhorn merchandise.

All he to do is give some bullshit answer such as were a very talented team but they have to work hard so we will see. His reaction was weak and embarrassing  It also lowers my confidence in the team going into the season,

You still seem very skeptical about Herman and the team.  Now you can blow off what I'm about to tell you as it seems that is your M.O.  But I will tell you where I get what little information I do and what kind of men they are.   Both are multi-millionaires that have made MAJOR contributions to the University of Texas.  BOTH have their names either on buildings or scholarships.  One is an ex-regent and former player and both have a place on the sidelines - during practices and in the locker rooms - if they have the time to attend.  Now you can call bullshit until the cows come home.  I couldn't care less.

But I am being told that the coaches think they have a conference contender and are coaching with a quiet excitement.  Hell no, they aren't going to hang their necks out in pressers.  Would you?

Keep on posting Doc. It is appreciated. And BTW thanks for spelling quiet correctly.  :)

If our line gave our QBs 3 more seconds this year, they would have 3.25 seconds to throw and that would be much better.   There were extenuating circumstances (injury) but I’m not sure many of us - who complain about  play calling and quarterbacks  - fully appreciate how inept our OL was last year.  It is really unfair to judge either.

What gives me optimism is the OL depth chart posted here and Herb Hand.  Both look drastically different than last season.

I’ve said all along - and have been roasted for it.... that with an average OL, Buchelle is the clear choice at QB, and it’s not even close.  That is referring to last year, I’m open to watching the progression this year at QB.

Random question that I somehow slept through.... why did our JUCO recruit from last year retire from playing football?

Medical issues. Had reoccurring concussions.

Tough deal for him and the team.

I'm calling it right now, Todd Orlando will be more successful as a head coach than Tom Herman. Dude just has the IT factor and seems completely genuine.
