Daniel's Crystal Ball Picks

He's listed at 6'3 on his profile page would you say that's legit or maybe even short?  Kid looks like a giant on hudl compared to most around him.
Ojomo has tremendous "get off" and is a legitimate 6'3.  The thing that is tough with him as he dominates as a DT at about 50-60 lbs less than Spring Westfield DT Keondre Coburn (UT commit);  that can be tricky b/c he would be engulfed at the next level at his current weight unless UT wants to kick him outside.  Always a roll of the dice when assuming a DT can put on weight and keep his explosiveness at the next level.

Daniel, 2019 related but I noticed an aggy mod had a pick for Tyler Johnson to Texas and that Javonne Shepherd has a pick or 2 to Texas.  That would be a great get for some OT's, you like where we stand early on with these 2?

I got a bad feeling Kenyon Green either sticks with LSU or flips to aggy.  Hope I'm wrong.
Texas is in a good spot early for Shepard and Johnson. Still got work to do on Green. The 2019 OL crop is so much stronger than 2018.

I think so...he's taller than most of the other players and they're not small.  He's probably got some growing left in him, too.

Going to go ahead and submit my CB pick for Courtre Alexander. Texas is by far his best offer to date, so we will see if things play out quickly between the two parties.

Okay so first year of following this recruiting stuff heavily and having fun with it... @Daniel Seahorn what’s so special about these CB’s when anyone can change there’s within a min of the kid committing somewhere? Everyone should have a pretty healthy record in the crystal ball colume since you can change em so often. I’m just confused as to what’s it for.... just something for us the readers to look at on 247 to see min to min how things are trending?

only ask because I have heard people say your excellent at picking, and you are. Shouldn’t everyone be if they are following the recruiting process? This is not me being a dick like it may sound I’m just truly curious.

It’s just something for the fans to follow to see trends as you say. The more important part for CB picks isn’t so much the percentages, but the points you are able to accrue because it’s based on how long you have had a pick in and if you were one of the first to put it in. If you switch picks around a lot it limits the amount of points you can get which is why at times I’m slow to change unless I know for sure.

For example I’m still kicking myself for changing my Texas pick because I was the last man standing despite all of the OSU picks, but I didn’t change until I heard something that put it over the top for me. Of course Texas blew Cook away on his visit and ended up signing him and here we are. *Throws phone*

Ok ok so it’s like a points based competition type deal? That will actually be really fun

Ojomo CB pick for A&M. There seems to be momentum in favor of the Aggies in that recruitment even though he has yet to take visits.

Arkansas is going to be a problem for Alexander as well.

Why is it that we can't nail down a DL recruit? Is it Oscar Giles, negative recruiting or just random occurrences?

He's been the primary recruiter for some big time prospects in years past and his unit played well this past year.

If you cant land a DL commit in Orlando's defense there is a problem.  There is still Coburn if he sticks hopefully.  Something about OL and DL with us.  Yes we nabbed Grandy but something is off when you nab 6-7 TOP db's but struggle to get OL and DL.

I thought Giles was supposed to be a great recruiter.  Doesnt appear so.

Misery will show the world in the bowl game how much the lines are needed. I'm not looking forward to it one bit.

Giles isn’t a great recruiter even though he has a nice player development track record. It’s a tad bit troubling.

Rod Wright was recently hired as DL coach at ECU.  I wonder if he's an option some point down the line.

We did fine, in fact, very good with our OL finish. But the difficulty there is related to the fact that OL and DL are weak positions in state this year.

DL, though, falls somewhat on Giles. DL wasn't as slim pickings as OL was/is. IMO, the 10th assistant needs to be assigned to DL recruiting and be attached to Giles' hip on all recruiting visits.
