Kevin Sumlin Fired At A&M

Right now both. I would like to Charlie get the job. If not then for entertainment purposes the Kiffin or Leach.

Nine Arkansas coaching candidates to replace Bret Bielema

Charlie Strong

Strong played defensive back at Central Arkansas from 1980-93, and he served as an assistant coach at Texas A&M, Florida, Ole Miss and South Carolina on his way up the coaching ladder. Strong bounced back in style at South Florida after a three-year stint at Texas. He's an interesting candidate for this job.
DAMN...I thought it took me a long time to graduate from college!  Eligibility rules have changed quite a bit since 1993...

I don't care what anyone says, Kiffin is fun to watch. He knows football and has done a lot of talking at coaching clinics I have attended. It was 2014 and he still indirectly put Saban down when someone asked the differences between working for Saban and Carrol.

I was told his son has medical issues and he is being treated by a Dr in Houston. So that could be a big factor. Especially if aggy offers to pay for his medical bills

This may ruffle feathers but just read a report coach strong is in the hunt for the FSU job if one comes available.... what in the living hell could they possible see in him.... is it impressive that he went to south Florida who plays NO ONE and walked out with a 2 loss season? Do they really forget the trash he produced at UT? Or is UT and the big money donors that tough of a place to coach at that one cannot succeed?? If it’s the latter somethings gotta change.

Hearing the contract is more like 10 years and $75 million and I am now thinking it is already a done deal.  I agree with Daniel the impact on recruiting is going to be felt as we really did not gain much momentum from this first season as we all had hoped and with Jimbo coming in so early in December means he will have plenty of time to have an impact on this years recruiting class. I hate to say this but I feel that A&M is much closer to those 10 win seasons than we are with this move .

Heard something recently in regards to Strong/FSU, but it seems Taggart will be the first target.

There are some who believe he was given a raw deal at Texas (not enough time, no support from his AD, etc) and that if he goes back to Florida where he's better connected to the recruiting world he could really kill it in recruiting.

Then of course there's just the recycled coach factor, more prevalent in the NFL, but they are often still considered safer bets.

So at some point he'll likely be given another chance at a major university. Even though his personality seems a better fit for a mid-major school, maybe he learned from his time here the need to be more than just a football coach. He just really struggled trying to manage the team, recruiting, and all the political mess that comes with the job.

Plus, he's a really good guy that deserves another chance somewhere. He wasn't ready yet for a job like Texas, buy maybe he'll be ready next time.

Strong’s recruiting wasn’t the problem here, it was the coaching or lack there of

Didn't he already get another chance at USF?  Glad he is succeeding, just wish he had succeeded at Texas.  Good guy,  wish him well as well.
