2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Would've liked to have him in this class, but he seemed to never really be into Texas.  Plus, I honestly think the Horns end up with Ronnie Perkins and Joseph Ossai for the haul this year.  Maybe they pick up Daniel Carson because I Kind of view Ossai in the Hughes role on this defense and they need some more beef.  Nice pickups to go with Coburn.
Carson seems like a long shot. They have put themselves in good spots for Ossai and Perkins though.

We just need a win at this point.

0-2 last 2 weeks kills our momentum like consecutive 3 and outs on offense.

Hopefully this weekend against the bears we get back some momentum for the good guys.  A loss would be devastating though.

I think we need more than a win. We need a statement win. Like win by 3 touchdowns at least. Defense may have to score a few times for that to happen. :)

Good news coming in the coming weeks. Have no date set but hear we have a key target on the defensive side who may be ready to come to Jesus.

Not referring to Cook.

Well seeing how Ossai/Perkins are the only legitimate candidates... I'll guess Ossai?

Perkins, Ossai, or White. Would love to see some aggy tears if we get both of White and Ossai.

– Anthony Cook: Last week we posted an insider note on the donor board regarding Texas DB target, Anthony Cook. The information was a bit too sensitive to put on a public forum. However, the information has begun to come out through other sites so we’ve decided to share that report on our main board. It read as follows:

As we first reported, Anthony Cook is set to announce his decision on October 30th. He’s long been seen as an Ohio State lean. Though recently, when Will Baizer caught up with him, it was clear that Texas was surging.

In recent weeks we have felt better and better about Texas’ chances but I wasn’t quite prepared for this.

A source close to Cook tells me that while Cook’s top three were officially Texas, Ohio State and LSU, the source says that Ohio State is now running third behind Texas and LSU.

Source said that the distance is playing a factor. Cook took a visit to LSU this past weekend.

Another thing to note is that Jeffrey Okudah, the star TX 2017 DB at Ohio State is very close to Cook and Okudah hasn’t gotten as much playing time as might have been expected. I get the sense Cook has noticed that and it’s more than a bit concerning.

– Bobby Brown and Defensive Line Recruiting: As most of you know by now, 2018 DL, Bobby Brown (Arlington, TX) moved his commitment date from November 2nd to today October 27th. It is our understanding that his choice will be between OU, TAMU and Alabama and based on information we’ve gathered TAMU and OU appear to be the most likely. Andrew spoke to a source at Arl  Lamar recently and the staff there seems to think he’s leaning TAMU. Though they don’t know for sure as Brown is quiet.

However, of note, Brown’s mother mentioned that she and Brown are considering taking a trip to Texas on Monday. She mentioned it as a possibility on Wednesday night and he even after the decision was made on Thursday to move the commitment date up, she said that it is still in the works. We will see if that really comes to fruition.

Texas will have some work to do to flip Brown but there are other options.

Daniel Carson: I recently spoke with Daniel Carson’s coach. As you know, Carson has already visited Texas. Carson’s coach said that the only other visit that Carson will certainly take is a trip to Oklahoma. He added that Carson is also considering trips to Nebraska and Miami. I have spoken with sources on both the Texas and OU side and while he has previously visited both schools (Texas on a official visit and OU on a unofficial visit in the summer) neither side seems to be able to get a good read on him. But given the fact that Texas and OU are the primary schools he has chosen to visit, it certainly seems like those two are the favorites. We should know more after Carson’s high school season as his coach said, “He’s the kind of the kid that really wants to focus on the season. We’re in the playoffs and he’s focused on that.”

Ronnie Perkins: As we’ve already mentioned, sources close to Perkins indicate to us that Texas is the current leader. He will visit Oklahoma this weekend and Michigan in December. There is still a little ways to go in this one.

Josh Landry: On film, the Lamar DT and Baylor commit, Josh Landry, appears to have the twitch and the motor that makes Todd Orlando’s defense go. Do not be surprised if an offer comes at some point. I am told that the Texas staff likes Landry but they’d like to continue evaluating him. Should Texas offer, it’s hard to see Landry passing up the Horns.

Seen Reese Moore caught 4 passes for 144 yards tonight!  Maybe he'll turn into another Eric Winston.  Been saying, think he's the steal of the class.

Intriguing athlete for sure. I’d take an Eric Winston in a heart beat, but he has plenty to learn and needs to be brought along slowly.

Perkins and Adeoye getting to see some piss poor defense from OU right now.

Hopefully the aggy loss helps with Ossai and White.

Daniel,

Does the decisive win against baylor help with Cook at all?

Baylor played ou and WV very close.

Watching Holton Hill should entice him.

Holton Hill’s performance definitely helps. Any wins and the defense playing well definitely helps as well.

EJ Holland is reporting Anthony Cook has pushed his commitment date back.

We heard recently this was likely to take place, but were awaiting an official word. Doesn’t look like a new date has been given yet.
