I know every team deals with injuries, but if we had all the O Linemen that got hurt not get hurt, we would be way ahead of where we are now. I know a lot of ifs. It’s just the hand we have been dealt. Our line will get better this year and should be way better next year when everyone comes back hopefully healthy

Hopefully Conner comes back

Hopefully Conner comes back
As much as I would like this, I don’t think it happens. If the knee is fine, I don’t see Connor risking millions to come back another season. He has nothing to prove anymore at the college level.

IDK, I think Conner returns...especially if he doesn't make it back onto the field this season...

He should have an Outland in his trophy case after last year. I don’t see him coming back unless he gets an unexpected draft grade.

You don't mine gold in the middle of a ore deposit. This isn't the year for stocking up on OL even though we have the need. Just going for numbers won't help when you're getting people who will likely not ever play a down here.

We have two, need two more. I think thats doable. Get some people healthy again and we're good to go.

Connor certainly could go pro after this season. But I can't imagine his draft stock would stay the same as it was when 1) he still hasn't had surgery on that knee leaving some doubt about its long term effect for NFL scouts, and 2) the lack of playing time he's had this year. If he goes pro, he'll be seeing football action for the first time at camp since almost two years before. On a surgically repaired knee.

We'll see.

Completely agree on the OL Recruiting. Just have to let some things play out and trust the staff.

In regards to Connor, there wasn’t any torn ligaments or structural damage which is a big plus for him in that department. He will probably have clarity on where he is at medically by the end of the year and I’d bet he would be able to take part in OTAs by whichever team that drafts him.

We’ve seen guys sustain more significant injuries and still go high. Unless there is more to the injury that is not out there yet.

Wouldn't his draft grade be affected by this injury?
Could be, but like I just said to SHA we’ve seen guys sustain more significant injuries and still go high.

Willis McGahee, Todd Gurley, Jaylon Smith. Just a few names that come to mind off top. Gurley still went Top 10 coming off an ACL I believe. McGahee had one of the worst injuries I’ve seen on a football field and still went R1. Some doctors weren’t sure Smith was going to be able to play again and he still went top of R2.

Everyone’s body is different, but I think Connor was pretty fortunate compared to the guys I mentioned.

I believe it was the meniscus injury correct? Back in the day it was very common to have these surgically repaired or removed. Nowadays surgeons Typically do not surgically repair the meniscus anymore. A lot of patients heal with just physical therapy and rehab.

Ok, now for the $64K question. Does Connor play another down at Texas this year and put that knee at further risk? Or is there no risk?

I think you just answered my question

Yes it was a meniscus tear and sprains of the MCL and PCL. I tore my meniscus in HS and sprained the MCL in college. My recovery for the former only took longer because my brilliant coaches had me squatting and working out shortly after their team doctors misdiagnosed me.

With the MCL I missed the last week of spring ball and with rehab I was back up to speed before summer workouts started.

– Texas vs Oklahoma | Recruit Reaction: There were a lot of big names in the Dallas for Texas-OU on Saturday. While a lot of Texas fans were disappointed with the result, all of the recruits I talked to were impressed with the game overall.

TE Malcolm Epps: “It was a great game, you can’t win them all. I got to catch up with Casey [Thompson] and just loved being around my future teammates.”

LB DaShaun White: “Really good game. Saw a lot of what I needed to see from both sides.”

I’ve said before I don’t see him coming back. I’d advise him there is no upside in trying to rush back. While he wasn’t at his best prior to USC, it’s not like he hasn’t put plenty of good tape on for scouts.
