2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I saw a tweet from Coach Flight saying "If all the silent commits went public the internet would probably break today lol".

If only national signing day was tomorrow lol. But at least Herman got something cooking at the moment.

Coach Flight is good people and works with some of the best talent in the state year in and out. He isn't one to blow smoke either.

The good thing I see about silent commits is this: the kids can recruit for us behind the scenes & release their commitments in order to build momentum.

I see a recruiting machine that is well-oiled and humming along nicely.

Java....I hope so. What has greatly impressed me about this staff is that they seem confident in their ability to win games which will create huge recruiting advantages for us in state and nationally as well. They just dont seem to act like they are urgently trying to get guys to commit. They act like they just expect them to.Strong also liked to slow play recruitment, but this has a whole different feel to me.Charley felt he could get guys in regardless of our record and that briefly worked, but not for best of the best.Herman seems to know that we have to show the ability to win and also seems extremely confident that will happen.

As of today I feel like we land:

Brennan Eagles- 5* WR
BJ Foster- 5* S
D'shaun Jamison- 4* CB
Alvonte Woodard- 4* WR
Malcolm Epps- 4* TE
JaQualyn Crawford- 4* ATH

Also as of today I feel good about 4/6 listed above announcing in the summer/before school starts in August. FYI I have no inside info, just taking what I'm reading from various sites.

Love that list and totally agree. Personally, I would add Jalen Green - CB to that list of 6. I would love to add Anthony Cook as number 8, but my confidence is dwindling in him to Texas. Hopefully, Woodard and Jamison can convince him to stay home.

What Charley did on the recruiting trail at Texas is remarkable in light of the record on the field.

While the recruiting rankings back up Strong success in recruiting the record on the field was terrible.  At some point the recruiting classes should be judged by National Championships or at the very minimal not getting beat by Iowa State and Kansas.

K-State does more every year with dismal recruiting rankings but they are actually coached.  Watching us lose to Kansas, poor clock management, questionable assistant hires, etc makes you wonder what the hell was going on in Charlies head.

I always will believe that Charlie is a good coach, a better person, but a poor manager. When things started crumbling, he took on more roles.

It was an impossible situation. Texas is too complex. It was his downfall, and it all began with a few bad hires-the blame for those hires doesn't matter.

On another note, did y'all hear that Orlando is approved for over $1 million per year. I think they said he is the highest paid defensive coordinator in the NCAA (not sure on that). Plus incentives. Not too shabby.

I think he's the highest paid assistant in UT history. I know Chavis at aggy is making 1.5 million IIRC. Hope in a year we can say he was worth every penny.
