Hallelujah! The Friday chat is back!

Tomorrow is the annual Orange-White spring game. There are several things to look forward to.

On offense, I'm excited to see how Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger look. I predict Shane will look more poised, but Sam will show more 'flashes' of big play potential. Don't worry about the run game too much. Since the position is thin right now, freshman Toneil Carter should get plenty of reps. I'm excited to see how he handles it. I'll be looking at the starting OL and how Warehime mixes it up, specifically at RT. Denzel Okafor is pushing hard right now. Lastly, the receiving corps is the deepest position on the team. That being said, I'm most excited to watch LJH, even if he's a bit dinged. That dude has so much potential.

On defense, I'm mainly going to look for how physical they are. Has Malik flipped the physical switch on yet? It's probably going to be a bit too early for that. I'm also excited to watch the DBs work against the WRs. PJ Locke has had a great camp. I'll be watching him along with Elliot and Jones in the secondary.

What are your thoughts heading into the spring game? Got some recruiting questions, too? Shoot them our way and we'll get to them. I'll be here all day. 🤘ðŸ»

Do you think there will be any new commitments by Monday? If not, gut feel of anything, anytime soon? Thanks and good job guys!

I would be surprised if there were any more this weekend, but some kids could always be eager to pull the trigger. There are some targets that could hop on board in the late spring/early summer, do not too long of a wait I imagine!

Which players stand to win/lose the most from the spring game? Predict your "mvp" for the game. I'm going with Malik on D and Duvernay on O. Thanks!

I think the one that could lose the most is Nickelson. If he doesn't perform well, he might lose his spot at RT. In terms of gaining, I think all 2nd string guys could really push for some jobs. Look out for Chris Brown in this area. For MVP, I'll say McCulloch on D and Collin Johnson on O

Casey was it for a while. There are a few guys who really like Texas, but they're nowhere near ready to commit.

....and we wonder why kids today are entitled divas. Guess it's just a cost of doing business, though. Can't fall behind in the facilities arms race!

  1. I assume QBs will be wearing "keep off" jerseys, but I'd really like to see pressure from our DTs and DEs against the #1 OL

I, too, want to see how our running game is shaping up with newbies at RB. Disappointing that we won't see Ehlinger's full potential with read-options if he can't be hit
Eager to see how both Collin Johnson and Lil' Jordan are utilized as boundary WRs
Want to see Malik and McCulloch blitzing and working the edges more rather than read-and-react

I know you're being sarcastic but you truly cannot fall behind. These upgrades are 20 years overdue. In this day and age of recruiting, these upgrades will be big.

1. I'll be watching how phsyical they are up front. That's going to be a big emphasis from Herman.

2. I can't judge the run game right now bc the position is so thin. I am intrigued by Carter, though.

3. Both could be monsters.

4. Malik needs to be on the edge. But he also needs to be more physical. I hope to see some of that in him.

No argument

We definitely needed an upgrade even if an old-timer like me thinks it's superfluous, unnecessary spending. Gotta keep up with....no, We Are the Joneses!

They WERE the Joneses. ðŸ¸Now they are like trust fund babies several generations after their great ancestor created all the wealth.. What made them Texas was winning and kicking everybody's ass all over the field. What makes them THINK they are still the Joneses is their endowment. Note to Jones: $ does not equal success. It is its own reward and history has proven it does not guarantee success.

Let us hope the Master Hydrator can lead Texas back to actual greatness.

...are you sure that you're not an aggy?

Harrison, Will & Daniel,

Just wanted to pop in here and tell y'all how impressive the coverage has been on Spring football and recruiting.  Keep it up and thanks!

Thanks for your baseball coverage, Joey! You're the best.

Nicholson losing his RT spot seems to be an annual thing. So congrats Okafor.

I think LJH will be the MVP. He's on a roll and has skills that continue to amaze.

Defensively, McCollough will probably be my MVP. I like LBs who like contact. Bimage will be easy to like. lol But for now, McCollough fits the bill better than Malik.

Very interested in how Mr. Hair does at MLB. He needs to add even more weight if he's going to stay there.

Hopefully, we make it without any injuries. Should be quite a crowd for the game.

Other sites are saying that the spring game will be short and very vanilla. Basically a glorified practice. The team is really banged up and Herman does not want anymore injuries.
