Despite finishing dead last, the Texas women's soccer coach had her contract extended for 3 more years. WTF!

This proves that the "powers that be" could care f....g less about winning.

Who IS the women's coach? Not sure that proves anything since nobody, relatively speaking, cares about women's soccer.

Maybe I'm missing sarcasm.

Angela Kelly. Absolutely no sarcasm in my post.

While no one cares about women's soccer, why in the hell would you retain and extend a coach with such a sorry performance? It's just mind-boggling that The University of Texas now has such low standards that they will reward a coach that finishes DFL! If they won't fire a coach for finishing last, they damn sure aren't going to fire Charlie for a 3 year .500 record.

Fenves is nothing more than a liberal-ass Berkeley administrator who doesn't give a shit about sports and Perrin and Plonsky are absolutely worthless. F all of them and the horses they rode in on.

Although I see your point and where your coming from, I would like to think that a .500 or below football team would mean a hell of a lot more to the "powers that be" than soccer..... Seeing the income college football program

Brings to the table compared to having to give soccer tickets away just so there's a audience.

I am constantly amazed at how inexpensive the admission price is to the Interwebz.
Otherwise me and you wouldn't be here, right?  ;)

Just kidding with you, btw.

Kinda of reminds me of what Groucho Marx (I think it was him) once said about joining a country club, "I don't want to join anywhere that would have me as a member". Or something like that  :)

Except my outrage is not about whether they retain and extend Charlie.

It's about an athletic department that clearly does not demand excellence from top to bottom.
well, in the last 3 years we've run off the winningest baseball coach in history, our alltime winningest hoops coach and our second best football coach. I'd say the 'doesn't demand excellence ' complaint is way overstated.
Of course none of the changes happened as fast as message board guy wanted, but they did happen. If nobody in administration cared, all 3 would still be here.

Did anyone in the current administration have anything to do with running off any of those people?

No, it's not about women's soccer.

It's about the leadership in our athletic department.
No it's about women's soccer. The bar is and always has been lower than for Texas football. I'd also reckon to believe you probably don't know much beyond standings and record when it comes to their team. Is it a younger team showing promise? Where have we placed over the ten years? Has there been upward or downward trajectory in overall play over the year?

Assuming our administration, who will face far more scrutiny in the event of failure, would be passive in the continued disappointment in our football program based off of our women's soccer team is very much a reach.

Just finished DFL. I'll go out on a limb and take a wild guess that's a downward trajectory. Any Texas coach who takes their team to a last place finish should be fired the very next day.

As far as your last paragraph, we'll agree to disagree.

You are absolutely right!

I am glad you took my comment with a sense of humor.  In these trying times of tribulations and gnashing of teeth with regards to the state of our beloved Longhorns, all of us are probably guilty at times of taking ourselves too seriously.  This thread in general seemed to be veering precipitously close to the precipice of whinietudinous expression ... so I could not resist taking a potshot ... or rather in these trying times, perhaps I should say that I chose to commit a random act of drive by commentary.   ;)

And, you might also note that my commentary was completely devoid of any redeeming content.   ;)

Hey, just so you and BevoBlake and others keep this is mind. Just because you agree with me doesn't mean you are smart and just because you disagree with me doesn't mean you are stupid  :)
