Why would someone commit the day after NSD?

Doesn't make sense to me either.  If it's a big time recruit, the staff would be able to assure them they have a spot today.  Only thing that makes sense to me is if the recruit has concerns regarding their committed schools class and they wait for things to shake out before staying committed or jumping ship.....once again, not sure that would have to wait until the day after.

Also some of the time it's grades. They need to wait to see if they will get credit for some class or whatever. Some are still trying to take tests and qualify. There are a lot of reasons.

Exactly. With ESPN laying people off right and left, I wonder if they will even stay in the recruiting game. I assume they will but they gotta get a lot better than they are right now.
