SignUp Now!Spradlin was rumored for the OL coaching position when it was rumored Mattox wasn't coming with Gilbert. Maybe Spradlin is still up for the RB or TE/ST positions.Does anybody know if Spradlin is in line for a position on the staff? I was told he had "accepted a position" on the staff. Or so he thought.
If Spradlin accepted a position it would be as a quality control guy, his bread and butter position grouping is ol that's what he coached at Houston for Briles. I don't see him doing that because he's kind of a control freak and it would be around a 50k per year decrease.Does anybody know if Spradlin is in line for a position on the staff? Damn! I like the look of that big dude throwing up the Horns!
How much do the quality control coaches make now?If Spradlin accepted a position it would be as a quality control guy, his bread and butter position grouping is ol that's what he coached at Houston for Briles. The RB coach position is similar to the TE or ST coach position in that it is used to hire a guy you want on staff - but might not be a specialist at that position. Being an OL coach (and then HC) is plenty of experience to coach RB's at the college level. The question is does Spradlin even want to move to the college level as a position coach - and do Charlie/Giblet think that he would add enough to recruiting to make it worth putting him there. If Spradlin accepted a position it would be as a quality control guy, his bread and butter position grouping is ol that's what he coached at Houston for Briles. Not sure at the collegiate level, but I have heard from many people that he is beloved in Temple. Normally the RB coach is one of your best recruiters. I have no idea what kind of relationship Spradlin has had with his kids at various stops - so I have no idea what kind of a recruiter he could be. Will be interesting to see if Traylor leaves - maybe Spradlin is a guy they bring in to replace him.
I put a Traylor interview on the Crootin threadTraylor has been a HUGE asset to opening up the East Texas pipeline and put it on full blast. As far as this news is concern, I'm happy as on shit smokin a cigar.
I just saw it as soon as you posted itI put a Traylor interview on the Crootin thread
Looks like Charlie is looking at a RB and TE coach.Gilbert,Mattox and Traylor will all have input into offense. I think Traylor job title will depend on if Norvell stays or not. if Norvell stays he will have associate title if not Traylor might get that title. also will be interesting to see what happens at RB coach if Robinson leaves I could see Traylor moving there especially if Texas could hire Tony Levine to coach TE/ST to go along with Levine`s ability to recruit Houston.
