One of the biggest topics of discussion this season has been our Offense and the growth it has/hasn't shown. Here is a bit of information to further that discussion:

Heard has more yards than the 3 RB's combined.

It's pretty daunting. Especially when you consider the hype around JG coming out of Aledo. With that said, I truly believe that Heard establishing himself as a dual threat will open up lanes and more importantly, opportunities, for the other guys in the backfield. Opposing defenses will now have to take note of Heard's ability and that will leave the halfbacks with chances. It's up to those guys to take advantage now. They don't get any more excuses after this week. It's been proven that Heard isn't a fluke and now the opposition will be game planning to stop a multi-dimensional Texas offense.

In only his 2nd start. Let that sink in.
That's the crazy thing for me. To already be notched up there in the Top 70 with only two starts and as a Quarterback. That is impressive.

His pocket awareness and Vision down downfield looked waaayyyy ahead of the curve..
I don't want to pile on Watson. He's endured his fair share over the past two weeks. With that said, it's clear that there was no legitimate reason for Heard NOT to be the starter coming into this season.

Heard has more yards than the 3 RB's combined.
Sad display. In fairness to CW3, he has only had ten touches to this point. Over three games, that isn't enough to really establish yourself and find a groove. But yeah, a poor display to say the least.

If we were good or in the $EC he would get into the Heisman race in a hurry.

Moving up almost 30 spots in Overall Offense in two weeks is pretty impressive. I think a realistic goal for the offense would be to finish somewhere around 50-60 in Overall offense. But obviously I'd be really happy about anything higher.

New Coaches Poll rankings (Top 10):

  • Ohio State
  • TCU
  • Michigan State
  • Jerrod Heard
  • Ole Miss
  • Georgia
  • Florida State
  • nostras damas
  • LSU
  • Clemson
Love it!

Heard has all the intangibles that you can't coach. Everyone talks about Vince, but JH reminds me of TJ and all of the stories that Barnes would tell about him. He has the confidence, competitive nature, the respect of his teammates, the vision, the toughness. Talk about a cornerback mentality. He's got it, and I'm glad he's on our side.

Now Ahmad, can we pronounce his name right? Thanks.

Hook 'em!

But wait! We were to believe he was well behind Swoopes in his development and ability to lead the team! SMH...wow. Nice coaching evaluation Watson and whoever allowed him to be the deciding factor. Let's hear it for next week, excited once again regarding our offense!
