There is a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things. Isn't it obvious the team knew about the changes before we did. Charlie does things the right way.

Yep, Charlie was pissed and rightfully so. Now just start Heard and I can live with the results.

I just want to see a QB display an attitude of confidence. If anything, have some fun out there.  I have yet to see this from Swoopes the last 3 games.

I suspect that it will be vanilla this week against Rice but if Texas expects to beat Cal, they are going to have to fine some way to score.

If you think Malik Zaire tore up the Longhorns, wait till you meet Jared Goff. I expect that kid to go pro after this season. He is a stud.

Fine with the move but the whole thing is weird. Watson is who he is. Strong should know that better than anybody. So CS basically said 'we're gonna change offense up. I'll ride with you as we put it in this spring, refine it into fall practice and then we'll give you one game'

If Watsons leash was this short CS shoulda whacked him on the bus ride back from the Texas Bowl.

Or his leash WASNT that short and CS was told 'dump him or else'.

a head coach was 'misled' by his longtime #2 guy? If that type of insubordination is even remotely true, Watson shouldn't have been let on the plane back to Austin.
We'll never know the whole story. Whatever... Onward and upward.

I don't buy this. I mean how is that even possible ? 

Most every teams playbook contains a mix of different types of offensive schemes.  These might include plays that combine elements of the WCO, pieces of air raid, power spread, spread, etc...

Its probable that even with the new spread offense there were elements of the WCO that were a part of the play book and even part of the game plan going into Notre Dame.  What I expect might have happened is that when the bullets started flying Watson reverted back to what he knew best and what he was most comfortable with - and thats the WCO.  Suddenlt Watson was only calling the plays from the WC portion of the playbook - and the plan to run Gray until his legs fell off took a backseat to a Swoopes led passing attack.

If Norvell moving to play caller results in more of a spread offense, what will Watson's role be since he is not a "spread" guy?  We still have a guy coaching QBs who either does not know the spread or is unwilling to use it.  How can we have a non-spread guy coaching our QBs to play in a spread offense?  Just asking because it seems odd.

AUSTIN — The offensive meeting room was not a united place from Day 1.
 
Charlie Strong brought Shawn Watson aboard and gave him authority to build his multiple pro-style offense…but surrounded him with spread offensive coaches. Naturally, the only remotely pro-style capable QB went down in Week 1 along with most of the veterans on the OL and Watson’s fate was more or less sealed as an OC.
 
The Wickline-Watson marriage was whenever a positive one, lack of pre-marital counseling imo. Wickline wants to run zone schemes and little else, his understanding of how to attack a defense is limited to spread-style “count the numbers and react accordingly.â€
 
Meanwhile, Watson’s control over the offense meant that Texas’ inexperienced OL last year was using up valuable practice reps learning pin & pull, trap, lead G, and power blocking schemes rather than using that invaluable time on mastering Wickline’s exceptionally detailed zone techniques.
