TE group at Texas getting thinner

Multiple outlets are reporting the Blake Whiteley is out for the season (knee). Couple that with the news on Clarington from earlier in the week, plus Beck having minor injuries, and DeAndre McNeal's stock just went through the roof.

When Alex De La Torre said he'd been working in at TE some earlier this week, it must have been foreshadowing.

Texas would be wise to use De La Torre as the primary blocker at TE. I tweeted this a few days ago. IMO De La Torre is probably the best blocker we have on the team.

Wow

Now we really need Devo to pass the ACT for depth. Unless we think Gray and Oliver can fill the role. I have my doubts about their inline blocking abilities.

Whitley isn't a very good TE anyways but he was the only true TE-Y on the roster.......... Hopefully Beck can get back sooner than later and Clarington passes his ACT.

Several folks I talked to have a different opinion/expectation for Whiteley. I'm curious what you base your statement off?

All these knee injuries.....Is our method of wt training the culprit ? Making our knees weaker than normal. ?????

Seems like he's been banged up ever since he stepped on campus.

I don't think anyone on our roster is really an answer at TE except maybe McNeal and if Clarington qualifies. Beck, Whiteley, and Gray have room to improve/grow, but I'm not sure they will ever be anymore than serviceable.

He was also passed up by Beck on the depth chart last year even though Beck was a LB.
whiteley was also playing through injury then, which was why beck was brought in at that point

whiteley was also raw and undeveloped, so redshirt development for later potential was the preferred route

although mack offered beck at LB, beck previously played TE at high school and received other offers to play TE at college

Wait, I'm a little lost....where is the obligatory long narrative on our depleted scholarship players for this season? My world has turned upside down after having come to expect the doom and gloom diatribe.

...

Well you guys were on it early because Whiteley hasn't been practicing all week. DLT wasn't just foreshadowing - it was "fait accompli".

Nice work
