Wickline talking to Crosby OG Keenan Murphy

Talked to a coach from Crosby today who told me Wickline and Keenan Murphy are talking. It's small talk at this point but Wickline has expressed interest in Murphy.

First thing Wick wanted to know was Murphy's weight, which is 300 lbs.

I love Murphy's game. If he had more size he'd be among the top rated guys in the state. As it is I think he would make a good interior prospect. I also like Crosby center Chase Bridgeman a lot.

Mike, what about the Shackelford kid out of Belton? Any talk between he and Texas? Any real interest from Texas? Is he worthy of an offer?

I think he's a backup option at this point. They've had him evaluated for a while and haven't offered.

Keenan is only 6'2 which is what has some people nervous about recruiting him. He does sport a 6'7 wingspan so that helps a lot... I think guys like Murphy and Shackelford will become more recruited if UT misses on a couple more guys. I know LSU is showing a lot of interest in Murphy right now.

He has tackle feet and athleticism in a 6'2 body. He's an outstanding player. If he was 6'4 he'd be ranked up there with Little and Hudson
