The dreaded Error Bunny strikes again!

If A&M comes back to win that regional I'll be amazed. They've used their best 3 arms and they don't have much left. That was almost a must win once they threw Hendrix so many innings. They have to win 3 games in a row with make shift starters.
Aggy won it...Because they can HIT. They have one of the best hitting teams in the NCAA. Add to that California is as bad at hitting when runners are in scoring position as Texas; and bam....You have a winner.

When you have a good hitting team you are never out of it. THATS why Augie needs to get a hitting coach.

Hopefully TCU can take the Aggies down. They made a spectacular comeback to advance. They can hit as well....

NC State may have shit the bed, but it took putting the ball into play, hitting it hard, etc, to force those miscues...Another reason we need a hitting coach.....When you hit the ball you make the defense make plays, and keep pressure on the pitcher.

UCLA, the nation's #1 seed, loses to Maryland in Game 7, 2-1

UCLA with 1 run on 3 hits tonight.  Guess they should fire their hitting coach as well?

Super regionals are set:

Maryland vs. Virginia   Host TBA

Missouri State @ Arkansas

VCU @ Miami (FL)

Florida State @ Florida

ULaLa @ LSU

Texas A&M @ TCU     sigh, damn it NC State

Vandy @ Illinois

Cal State Fullerton @ Louisville

Notes

-11 of 16 hosts advanced to Supers

-Only national seed not to advance out of regional player was #1 UCLA

-A #3 seed team out of a regional is guaranteed to be in the CWS, with Maryland & Virginia matched up.

-Arky will host national seed Missouri State due to a schedule conflict involving minor league usage of the MSU facilities.

-15 of 16 teams represented are east of Austin, including 2 Texas teams, 3 Florida teams, and two Louisiana teams.

-SEC and ACC both with strong representation; SEC with 5 and ACC with 4.

-At least one team from Florida will make it to the CWS, while Texas and Louisiana are only guaranteed of one participant in Omaha.

Hitting matters but I'll always roll with pitching this time of the year.

Texas didn't have great hitting last year and finished 3rd in the country, because they had arms for days. I'm not saying our hitting is great but I'm not sure how far we would have gone if we had a healthy pitching rotation. If Hollingsworth, Clemens and Cooper are healthy I think this team could have still done damage with our hitting.

Not really sure what you saw this weekend, but our hitting definitely wasn't the reason we advanced to supers.

We scored a combined 8 runs in 34 innings against Cal. 2.1 runs per 9 innings is generally not a team capable of winning multiple games in elimination scenarios. The pitching stepped up and sat down a weak Cal lineup time and time again. I would say the reason for A&M advancing was the 7 runs allowed over a 52 and 1/3 inning span, striking out 52 and allowing 1.2 ERs per 9 innings.

Also, while TCU may end up hitting this week and flipping the script, they are a poor hitting team. TCU's pitching staff is the reason they are a threat to any team they come across. 4 legitimate starting caliber pitchers and the best ERA among teams still in the tournament.
