Holds a Texas offer and had this to say via twitter:

Texas is looking good for his services right now....

Lampkin also holds offers from schools like LSU, OU, Notre Dame, Baylor, Michigan, Ok. State among others.

. Must be some mistake. I didn't think anybody was considering Texas that had other viable options.

This is all from an ou site ........

– Du’Vonta Lampkin: Most of all you will probably recall the name Du’Vonta Lampkin, the 2015 DT prospect that was a one-time OU commit who flipped to Texas and ultimately signed with the Horns. Well, I have spoken with a few sources and have been told it now appears as though Lampkin will not be attending the University of Texas.

Apparently, UT has a language requirement that most schools, including OU, do not. I was told by a source that while there was an attempt by Lampkin to try and meet said requirement, it looks unlikely what needed to happen in order for him to qualify academically for Texas (important distinction) isn’t going to happen. The best case scenario for UT was that Lampkin would work towards completing that language requirement over the summer and then eventually enroll at Texas in August. I have been told, however, that is no longer the plan......

Fine with me. Texas has certain standards that other schools don't have. That's what makes Texas the University it is. It's up to Lampkin if he wants to meet those standards or he can go sign at another school like OU. It sounds like it's in Lampkin's court. He can take a couple spanish courses in the summer or go enroll at a lower tier academic university like OU.

I did some checking around and my sources tell me this report is valid. It's not quite over yet but things don't look good on this one. Credit to the brainiacs for breaking the story. DT is a position that the staff had struggled to recruit at a high level thus far.

There would seem to be some conflicting information out there .....

That news is being reported by an OU site who has been off base about Lampkin this entire process.

Max Olson tweet: On Du'Vonta Lampkin: Cy Falls coach Kirk Eaton says there's no reason to believe he won't enroll at Texas.

Olson's tweet indicates the last part of what I was told. It's not over but the ball is in Lampkin's court. Info is all over the place on this one. One guy told me not to worry and another echoed the brainiac report. Whatever the case it looks like this one will be a bit of a roller coaster. Best case is he passes the correspondence course and enrolls, but those courses have caused clearinghouse issues before.

Olson is a well liked guy in the industry with a lot of ties to the high school programs. I'm inclined to believe him but this thing isn't a done deal. The minimum diploma plan in high school eliminates language credits as a requirement, but as Nick Castillo tweeted he wouldn't have qualified on that plan. I'm working a few mor sources with knowledge of the academic requirement side but haven't heard back yet.

Jeff Howe,  ''Based on where that report is coming from I'm personally not going to waste my time reading it."

He is gone !!!! 247 with the info....Probably will end up at OU or Bama......

There has been talk about him not making the grade for a long time. Wasn't a surprise. Surprising that he wouldn't go JUCO and then try to come to Texas...but oh well. I guess he didn't really want to help Charlie Strong bring Texas back.
