A few things to keep in mind today as you prepare to watch the baseball game tonight/this weekend.

This weekend's games are all available on ESPN3-streaming; NO TV, only online streaming.

The weather outlook in Lawrence does not look good right now.  Thunderstorms today starting about 2 PM and not clearing until after 7 PM or so.  A delay for tonight's game is almost certain to happen.  There is currently a band of storms moving NNE towards the Lawrence/Kansas City area.

Tomorrow looks worse; storms in the forecast all day long.

Texas needs to get at a minimum 2/3 from KU, and in a perfect world, a sweep.  KU is not a bad team, and the Big12 has been a roller coaster so far for everyone.  I expect for Texas to get the W tonight and build upon it.

Here are the expected pitching match-ups:

FRIDAY
UT - Sr. RHP Parker French (2-2, 2.15)
KU - Jr. LHP Ben Krauth (5-3, 4.42)

SATURDAY
UT - To be determined
KU - Sr. RHP Drew Morovick (3-3, 4.60)

SUNDAY
UT - So. RHP Kacy Clemens (3-2, 4.14)
KU - Fr. LHP Blake Weiman (1-5, 7.49)

KU is a lot like Minnesota - they have 2 or 3 pitchers that are Big 12 caliber, but beyond that, they're lacking in depth. IMO, Krauth (Friday night starter) is their best arm and is most likely to give the Horns trouble.

On paper, Texas is easily the more talented team. The Horns have not been good on the road. IMO, this series is the one that signals how the rest of the season goes.

i vote we start playing on paper because playing on grass or turf ain't goin' so good.

Getting more than 4 base runners on base would be a start.
getting a hit with a runner in scoring position would also be nice.  innovative, as well.

and by all means, let's stand up there like cigar store indians and take called third strikes on principle, just to show the umpires we're taking a stand against bad calls, by God     :)

and let's tell the official scorer to put a circle around the backwards K to indicate that it was really the umpire's fault that the player had to go sit down.

bad umpire.  bad.

FYI, just heard tomorrows game likely moved to 1 PM, with the possibility of a DH due to weather.

Just a quick note on Saturday; utisdabomb is going to be on the PBP call here tomorrow for the early game.

Go get 'em Bomb!  Thanks for filling in.
