Texas at Texas State (recap added)

But great big troll coaches T-ball. Or umpires it.

Or so he brags.
Don't forget about his vast knowledge in basketball too. Remember, our women's basketball team doesn't have "athletic" guards.

I find it funny that he questioned the pinch hit move to begin with when it was the correct call to get a righty  vs lefty match up. Would Augie have made that move in a weekend series, probably not. It certainly wasn't an egregious type error to use those guys in that situation though. I think I will side with Augie/Nicholson over GBT in that situation.

FINAL: Texas 6 – Texas State 4

The Longhorns made the short trip down I-35 to San Marcos for a midweek tilt against the Texas State Bobcats and stole a win, using the long ball to nab a 6-4 victory. Texas State smacked a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the first inning and led for the first seven innings before late-game heroics from UT vaulted the Horns into the lead.

Zane Gurwitz, Michael Cantu, and CJ Hinojosa all had round-trippers, although Gurwitz’s was an inside the park hit. Those three homers accounted for five of the Longhorns’ six runs, with Hinojosa’s 3-run blast giving Texas the lead in the eighth frame.

Josh Sawyer started for Texas and was streaky throughout his three innings. Augie Garrido and Skip Johnson eventually used five pitchers in addition to Sawyer, opting for late game pitching matchups as the Bobcats used pinch hitters. Ty Culbreth (3-2) earned the win, and Kirby Bellow picked up his third save.

On the team effort: â€œThey came through when they needed to & picked each other up.”

On the offense: â€œWe really do have some power. We’re trying to get some runners moving. We’re going to hit-and-run.”

On late-game strategy: â€œWe haven’t substituted much. We tell them to be ready on the bench. That’s what happened tonight.”

Thanks for that clip utis.

I guess augie should have consulted first with the T-ball umpire.
