No.  Just, no.  What did Charlie say about not being a 'gadget' program?  That's how I see the black uni's - or the 'iced out' uniforms that the Aggies started wearing.  They're 'gadgets' to try and wow the kids.  I'd rather players coming to Texas be wowed by the coaches, the history, the academics, and the success a degree at Texas offers them.  And if that doesn't wow them - then they're probably better off at another program.

Maybe I'm too old to get it - but I just don't understand the fascination with alternate uniforms.

It's as simple as saying they're "cool". I understand that the older people get the more they lose touch with what's considered "cool" for younger generations. I'm 28 and I think alts are nice, I wouldn't want to be like Oregon or even Baylor wearing like a 1,000,000 different things, but here and there has the "cool" effect. I understand that there are people my age against them...but the younger guys (for the most part) like them...and since the players are the ones who wear them, and they are just as much a part of the University as anyone else, I have no issues with them having SOME say so.

that is good for us..i'm wondering if UT didnt have a chance with him...from recent reports that I've read that we had a long shot with him well blow me down:

Sorry, folks, I just don't see Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, and programs with that kind of tradition using gadgets - in uniforms or anything else.

Maybe you just need to have lived it to see it.

I agree that the helmet reminded me of Tceh. Texas is a flagship university and shouldn't need gimmicks to lure recruits.

when the baseball or basketball team wear the gray unis, is that a gimmick?  what about the gray baseball hat?  does the co-op only sell burnt orange and white?

Look at the uniform thing this way. When a new pair of Nike KD's or Lebron's come out, kids want them because they look good and are fresh.

The rub to all of the uniform changes is once you change them there is a tendency/ feeling that you have to continue to provide variations. That won't fly at Texas.

I asked Charles Omenihu about this a handful of months ago and he told me that fresh, alternative uniforms make players feel good.

But aren't regular uniforms "fresh" right after a good washing?
