If you're a baseball junkie and have some time this weekend, Stanford (4-4) heads to Houston to take on Rice (5-3) for a 4-game series.

This should give you a good idea of what Stanford brings to the table against a common opponent.

Bonus-If you bought a month of CBSi/College Sports Live streaming, you should be able to watch this via stream on that fantastic Rice Owl Vision.  ;)

Oh yes that one will be good to keep an eye on...

As the following week Texas travels to Stanford in a 4 game set..

We'll talk about it more at the end of the week, but I started researching USD last night -- they haven't had the start I was anticipating.

Agreed.  In my Non-Conference Slate Preview, I felt that USD's strength was their pitching.  Thus far, this does not appear to be the case.

Looking back, I'm one game off so far.  I had us winning 3/4 @ Rice.

Yeah USD was decent last year. Not so much this year. Pitching is a huge problem. They've been giving up pretty big runs against Morehead State and Dallas Baptist.

Is the game on LHN tonight? I know women's basketball was suppose to be broadcasted tonight, so not sure how the postponement impacts the TV schedule.

Game 1 from Reckling:

Final Line:

Stanford 5/13/1

Rice 3/6/2

Rice again struggled defensively with 2 balks and 2 errors.  Stanford pounded the Rice pitching early and mounted a pretty good lead that Rice couldn't overcome.

Four game-set.  DH tomorrow.

Good win for the cardinal tonight. That helps the rpi. Just want them to use up all their runs this weekend before we get off the plane. Mark Marquess can coach.

Their pitching was pretty good tonight John.

Game 2 Final Line

Stanford 6/9/3
Rice 11/14/3

While Rice's bats woke up today, they are really showing that they'll need to score a lot of runs to win games this year.  Their defense is doing them no favors.  3 errors and all of Stanford's 6 runs were unearned.

Stanford's middle reliever, JR RHP Brakeman got lit up for 6 runs, 5 earned, on 7 hits in 5 innings on the bump.

Game 3 starts at 4:05 PM CST.

That isn't how old Wayne would prefer. They have always caught the ball.
