I'd say the new baseballs are already having an effect on the game.

Did ya hear that Slim?  :D

It means that while we will still see Augie utilize small ball some, we should see some more liveliness out of batted balls this season.

Slim's going to need counseling if this keeps up

Imagine what it would be like with besr bats and if the fences were moved in 20 feet... ducks behind the fence

Great John.  Just poke the old man with a stick, will ya?  Sheesh!

I really need to hit up a game with Joeywa and Slim this year. I can bring Starla and get us a tour of the facilities again ;)

Umpired today, so didn't  see or listen to game, but hearing we got hammered for 10 runs..... I guess Clemens isn't a chip off the old block. Rice isn't noted for big offensive production. 10 runs ...wow. Who else pitched.??

I wouldn't expect any less from you. Yes, let's judge Clemens off one game coming back from rehabbing an injury for over a year.

Huh?  They finished 31st nationally last season in team batting avg.  I'd say that qualifies as a solid offensive team.

Regarding today, go read the game threads; there are two of them, so you don't have to sort through a bunch of stuff.

We had some challenges defensively early on, and Clemens looked like a young pitcher in his first collegiate outing; rough early out of the chute, then settled in.

I don't think it's anywhere near time to hit the panic button.

Batting avg, but how was their run production ? I remember them struggling to score whenever I saw them. Yes, my wife said Clemens settled down after the first, but had a tough first inning. Not panicking, but hoped Clemens would come out smoking like so many of our good young pitchers in the past.

Rice Total Runs-national rank

2014 50

2013 76

2012 89

They avg in the range of 344-360 runs per season the last three seasons with steady annual improvement.

Better run production than Texas.
