2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

now i have to disagree wth that..we just pulled in some of the top prospects that were in the top 100 or the top 10...and pulling IN Malik and McNeal were HUGE..so i wouldnt say that...even without Mack,,Strong did pretty good
I'm very excited about this class for sure. Strong and staff have done a fantastic job. I just meant NSD specifically. I was thinking we were in for more good news, but that good news got turned to bad yesterday.

Well true of course, but do you not think that the zero tolerance for weed is a factor in some of these kids decision making process? I feel pretty certain that a majority of the 4star/5star players in the nation have smoked some at one time or the other,.
Honestly Pringle, a majority of people in the U.S. have smoked. Most people would be blown away to know how many members of the military had that on their record.

Charlie is going to face that problem forever. My recruiter had a HUGE stack of potential enlistees that were disqualified for popping on a piss test. They would score in the 80s-90s on ASVAB but couldn't lay off of the green.

There are going to be plenty of coaches that will allow this though. I have a feeling that Manziel will not be the last player to enter rehab under Sumlin.

Of course we can't throw too many stones here if you look back to the Mack years and Ricky Williams etc....but Strong doesn't play when it comes to this.

Louisville just pulled their scholarship offer to a kid and gave him a greyshirt two days before NSD. The kid committed to them in June of 2014.

That's low, Petrino.
That is bad, even for Petrino.

He has a lot of class - all of it low.

I live about 30 minutes from Louisville and the locals are NOT happy about it. The Cards have a pretty class fan base and aren't pleased with this move at all.

this is the same petrino who coached in the NFL level .coached the Atlanta Falcons and told them that he wasnt going anywhere then days later he took the job at Arkansas..a waste of human flesh that is and poor excuse of a coach he is IMO..and thats being honest about it...

Totally agree with you Shannon. Obviously I didn't articulate it very well, but my point is that there will always be some kids that we're just not going to get because they would rather go  play for someone like Sumlin that lets them do their own thing. I strongly suspect at least one of the big name players we missed out on may have fallen into that category.

I think this accounts for some of our "misses" for sure. It may cost us some recruits, but I am glad Strong has the core values and enforces it.

No I knew what you meant. They don't realize it now because they are young but Strong is setting them up for their future. Just look at Josh Gordon and JM. All the talent in the world but wants to do "their thing" and "we're young." They have never been held accountable.

I wish I could agree with all you say, but I can't say we (Charlie) "didn't play it perfectly" and that we "should not have" let Teuhema and Weathersby escape. And you also mentioned Mack. I'm not saying that my thoughts below apply to these particular players specifically. I simply name them as examples...or "possibles".

There's an elephant in the room that none of us are talking about, and some people call it "weed". Personally, I think there's always going to be some kids out there that we, as fans, would love to see play on our team. But alas, not  all of them are going to be able to live by Charlie's rules. And if they can't, it's better they don't come to begin with rather than have them on the team and suspended until further notice.
It's not just weed.  There's too much arm-chair quarterbacking in JG's post (and I'm not sure why you can't do this after NSD when we see the results).

Teuhema followed his brother last year so how is Charlie suppose to "not let" him go.  We've all read about the issue about UT recruiting at Westfield so I don't agree with putting the blame on CS or Wickline.

As for Irwin, we had 2 safety commitments, DD plus Holt and Boyd on deck AND Kirk Johnson.  We were still recruiting Baker for DB numbers.  We were just talking last week about not having enough scholarships to give out.  So why would we need an Irwin replacement when we would probably spin a CB to safety?  Yeah the Johnson decommit hurt our DB numbers but it happened on the last weekend because Tech hired his HS coach.  That sucks but I'm not going to blame for CS for that.  This isn't the Mack way of recruiting.  You play for the big signings on NSD, you're going to end up with some empty spots (and I'm fine with that).

As for Mack, he didn't even visit until the Murray unofficial.  He had a great trip so we did a good job selling it.  If he doesn't want to come, we can't force him.  With KM going to aggy and some other ahem rumors, it's not like this was a great surprise.

As for Soso, maybe we truly weren't interested until later in the season when we started thinking about going to a spread.  He obviously wasn't going to be the bruising back CS wanted (ala Warren) for the offense we had this year.

When we decided to change the offense, the odds rose that Gentry was going to leave.  Do you want to go to a spread or not?  Based on our fanbase comments and the general hatred against Watson, I think our fans would prefer the spread over Gentry (and yes that seems to be the either or choice).
