2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Great reading through those tweet embeds a couple pages back.

Notice the gratitude and appreciation and profound JOY of these guys who are so ready to sign the fax and start the Dream.

...Get on the Train...
I totally agree with you.these kids seem ready to go to war for UT and for each other.

#HookEm

Two different things.

Malik was pissed at Brice Jones of Texags for trying to talk him out of the Texas commit after being invited into the Jeffersons home.

Hamm followed a recruit into the bathroom.
yeah  i read that too..but then i read something else following that too..he did mention Stephens name in there

As solid as the class is, we did not play it perfectly

IMO, despite 6 OLs, we should have taken one or two more.  We should not have let  Teuhema and Weathersby escape.

We should have won for Mack.  We are Texas after all.  I think this is the one shortcoming on the defensive side of this class -- no rock in the middle of the DLine

We should have had a backup plan ready to go in case irvin dropped us.  We should have anticipated that possibility given his relationship with TRob.  Plus, look at the depth chart - there is no one left for the nickel spot.  We have been scrambling to land another the last few days (Locke, Ketchum).  Kind of surprising since we seem to have had backup plans for everything else

Losing Gentry was a big risk.  It is going to work out, but it was still risky as hell.  if we had gone though all this with only Merrick to show at QB, it would have reflected very poorly on Strong & Watson and our other recruiting staff.  And it would have set us back possibly another season or even two.  Huge risk

Missing Soso will be bad, but if we land Warren it will not seem near as bad.  But what really will suck is that he was there for us, we just dropped the ball by not staying in constant contact with him (he loves Texas).  He admitted all this, I am not guessing

We didn't impress Lodge either.  But we worked around it.  I am happy with this WR class.  But, still, it could have been even better with Lodge.  I think the big, speedy. physical WRs give you a market advantage in the environment we play in.  We whiffed on Strickland too who also fits this mold.

Anyway, just being honest.  This class will stand as both a great accomplishment and a springboard for Strong's turnaround of this program (just like his fist big class was at Louisville).  It will rate a B+ to A-.  But could have been an A+.
Hopefully there will be a few surprises in our favor tomorrow.

i will rate this an A- and yes there were a few setbacks that couldve been avoided but props to Strong

for recuperating from it..I'm happy as pig on steroids that we landed Locksley that was HUGE

I think it was S Stephen Parker who Hamm tried to get in the stall with.  Parker just wanted to pee in private

Anyone wanna correct that?

I may be misremembering
It was. Parker even went on later to say he felt like he couldn't trust the media, especially "one guy from Texas A&M."

Speaking of Hamm, he's more or less calling everyone to commit with A&M. It's Premium Content so I won't divulge who but he thinks everything looks great tomorrow for Ag.

and by the way Juan i maybe late on the arrival but can you explain to me why Weathersby decommitted?

I dont know exactly what started it

But he became convinced he needed to play in the SEC -- a victim of negative recruiting?

And looks like he will end up there, with LSU

Burnt ends said Lodge was committing to Texas and there could be a surprise with a uncommitted prospect. So we could have an eventful NSD. Oh yeah Warren, Reed, and maybe Newsome.

In fairness, they said their source said that. HS could always have a differing opinion. Just trying to protect my HS brethren after the "100%" fiasco last year.

Would Baker or Newsome be considered a surprise?

For surprises? Or commits?
I think they're is a lot still in motion. CS is undeniably working his tail off. He probably doesn't sleep much tonight (or for the last two weeks really). I wouldn't bet against him on any recruit personally.

+1

Hopefully, this was Strong's first year adjusting to recruiting in TX. The ags are a shiny new toy, and they opened the door wider for the $EC. He seems to adjust quickly. Hopefully we land Joey McGuire to help with 2016.

At the end of the day we as fans and alumni/students just have to trust and have faith in Coach Strong and the coaches. They clearly worked their ass off and did their best. I'm pretty tired of analyzing and looking way too far into the fickleness of these high school kids who have yet to play a down of college football. This is The University of Texas, the greatest university in the greatest state in the greatest country in the world. Freaking The University of Texas. If they want to come, come on then let's go! If not, get out of the way and move on. That is all. Hook em
