I agree with your logic. But teenagers are not always logical and Mack seems to be a big follower type.Seems he would want to ball with his buddies on the defensive side of the field (Malik) vs jumping on board due to an offensive player who he can only watch from the sidelines. At least that's how I would roll.
I think he views Murray and a couple of other aggy players as superstars. And he has always been dazzled by them and the fact they are recruiting him has him awestruck. It's why he committed in the first place.
This is a boy with immense talent, but one that can be easily wooed and, if he doesn't mature quickly, could fall into the entitled crap that Sumlin has allowed to foster at aggy. And that would be a crying shame.
Out of the three schools - Texas, TCU and aggy - aggy would be the worst possible choice for him.
But, I am a logical adult and he is not.
