2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Anybody know how many years of eligibility DeVonte Fields has left? Not that it matters because he'll probably declare for the NFL after one season

Dunlap is right if you ask me. Elliott we already have at safety and there's a good chance Boyd and Kirk Johnson might eventually end up at safety.

Deandre Baker is deciding on NSD, and looks to be a Longhorn lean right now (granted he's listed as a CB).

I almost hope we don't go after another safety, we don't need it. That scholarship should go to an offensive guy like Reed IMO.

From Bobby Burton: While McGuire has not said publicly if he will accept the position, I think he is poised to take the job."

Waiting until after NSD would fit the idea floated around that he didn't want his decision to be perceived as just a move to influence Lodge .... The only way it becomes controversial is if McGuire takes the job before NSD AND Lodge comes to Texas. I'm inclined to take this as a sure sign of its happening.

What about another DT like Bryce English.? Can't ever have enough DLinemen.
English was a Mack Brown commit.

There's something about him CFS doesn't like. IDK if it's character issues or his height (5' 11"). Yeah, I know Poona's short but Bryce ain't nearly as athletic.

Way off topic but I'm watching the LHN & they have the Bottom Dollar String Band on it. If you like bluegrass, give em a listen.

This would be a very sound move for McGuire. After those years as a very successful high school coach, it is time for him to move up if he is ever going to.

My Dad did the same, coming to Texas in 1937 as an assistant to D. X. Bible after 3 straight state championships at Amarillo. In 10 years he was head coach at UT.

Really hope people jumped on HD flash sale yesterday. This 24 hour chat Higs is doing is going to be some great stuff.

you know something Randolph I want to comment on that..I've been biting my tongue lately in here to prevent from making anybody mad in here, but, It's gotta be said..now IMO I look at that Newsome"s committment ceremony, and, I can tell he wasnt ready to make a decision just yet. What held him back was Texas kind of stalled awhile on him..which he wasnt too pleased but Strong and Co. made up for that..now on the other hand, UCLA recruited there butts off wanting him.Now to be truthfully honest i think it had to be a question of what he wanted was best for him and what his family wanted that was best for them..To tell you the truth I felt for him..Not too many kids get this kind of privilege and all to be offered a scholarship and all. I truly believe IMO he chose what made him happy and what was best for him...
Is there any truth to the story that he had called both schools and told them that morning it was UT?

English and a couple other guys became metaphors for how lazy Mack Brown had become on recruiting

However, I watched English in the Under Armor postseason game and has was pretty dynamic -- worked very hard, getting a good push.  It's true he is relatively short which gives him a slightly comical body shape.  But he did not look like a wasted scholarship based on that game, working against all-star OLs

apparently that was what the story was..but something tells me there was more to that behind the scenes that was left untold and who knows at this point..what had happened

We don't need another Safety unless they can play Nickel. 2016 has 3 great players and hopefully they will see the depth chart and be enticed. We need to get 2/3. they are some players.

I think Boyd is the new nickel

It would have been Irvin but its not

Now its Boyds' spot which might actually get him on the field quicker since we have zero depth at that spot

Not to mention the 3-3-5 was our base a good part of the season and the nickel was a starter
