2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

We shall see.  There's still a LOT of time between now and NSD.  Having a 17 yr old, I know for a fact that mind changes happen often.

My company is a sponsor of this site. Everything else is just gravy for me. I spent 17 years in the print news business. So some of this is quite natural for me and is enjoyable.

One of the first things I did after landing here back in December of 2013 was tell HS higher ups that JuanGrande and UTisdabomb were staff-worthy. Guys are on the ball and know their football.
Yeah, well what do you know. I have 10 brilliant, insightful posts - TEN - and you haven't said a word about me to the higher ups. Sometimes, less is more, ya know.

Seriously, I've followed Bomb over at OB and he's very knowledgeable. I'm new here, but can already tell Juan is excellent with this 'crootin' stuff.

Not surprising but disappointing we really need a QB recruit... What's the confidence on Locksley?

Sorry, I am not buying it.

20 minutes?  Seriously?  If true that is not good for aggy IMHO.

Sumlin: this is one of the top ranked QB's in the country, a legacy, an early commitment that is leaning toward our former biggest rival.  You do not let him get his final visit with you limited to 20 minutes and then you know your rival gets him for the last time tomorrow.

If it was truly 20 minutes then I view that is bad for aggy.  If I was Stumblin, I take my time.  Open by asking questions, answering them, overcoming objections, then setting the table at aggy, making the pitch for why a&m, painting the picture of what Kyler will do for the team, the program while I point out what I will do and my coaches will do for him the next 4 years.

I spend a few minutes assuring Dad (and Mom) that all actions will be taken to insure that the lad is coached up as well as provided the proper discipline to: go to class, respect women, no guns, no drugs, respect his coaches and fellow players, etc.

I will then ask for feedback, questions and ask why he would not want to be a part of the team and then have answers to his questions and information to overcome any objections while accentuating the positive.

In my mind it should have taken Sumlin at least 1 hour.

Just my .02

What you have said makes perfect sense - IF, in fact, the meeting was only 20 minutes.  When one is this close to signing day, it is best to take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

I have to constantly keep reminding myself of this, lest I wind up with a broken heart.

Do NOT sell Sumlin short.  The man is an outstanding recruiter and always has been.  He was at UH and he has been at aggy.  The evidence is right in front of us - for his classes that are on campus and the very real chance he could have a monster class this year, as well.  Just as Strong could.

All it would take is for a very few recruits to swing aggys way and he is in the running for a top 3 class as well as we could be.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, I'm just illustrating how close this recruiting race is - between us and aggy.

And, if we are being realistic, some of these recruits are real toss ups.

Everybody has mentioned that Murray could have led to other recruits. Are we solid enough with the uncommitted guys that this doesn't snowball the other way?

Any thoughts on our grad transfer QB prospects? Haven't heard any info on this in awhile. I am a big Heard fan, but would like some competent competition to push him and/or back him up as needed if injuries occur ( don't worry I am not a jinx, just because I wrote it or say it doesn't mean it actually happens).

If Murray to A&M, the best to him. I think he is going to need it, unfortunately.

I love the work that Strong and the coaches have done, and I am really looking forward to seeing Heard in the Spring Game. The young man has all of the tools. Like Sirhornsalot said, I think many have forgotten how good he is. It is so easy for fans to get caught up in the recruiting game and forget what we have on campus. It happens every year, over and over.

JH has done his time as a redshirt, like McCoy and Young did. Now, it's his time to shine. It will be nice if Kai comes, trains, and follow Heard just as McCoy followed Young.

Hook 'em!
