2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Bobby Burton thinks Tim Irvin will end up at Texas because Auburn wants him to enroll during the summer session.

"* Gut says he sticks with Texas. One thing that Auburn is pushing him to do is enroll in the summer instead of the spring. That would put him behind the 8-ball in earning a starting position there."

Lodge tweets that the winner of the NC game will be in his top 5. Interesting way to decide your future, hasn't visited Eugene. At least it isn't a top 9 list.

Who wouldn't want to waste their four years of college in the land of fat women, obnoxious fans, frozen tundra and the smell of burning couches in Columbus. OH?

Don't let Tim Irvin's 5'9 height bother you. People who are 6'4 will make it a point to know where he is on the field.
Maybe, maybe not SHL.  There IS a point of diminishing returns.  That fat 300 lb. Oregon DL found this out when that big tOSU QB knocked him on his ass.

In other words, I like the chances of a 6'3", 225 lb. WR knocking a midget on his butt.  That being vicious works both ways.

Exhibit A - Quandre Diggs

He was a good player for us, but tall, physical receivers can and did get the better of him at times.

I agree. However sometimes,"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

BINGO. There is indeed a S Florida "attitude" and it comes out in Irvin. If all you've seen are his offensive clips, then you should make it a point to see those defensive clips.

Exhibit B – Someone I played HS ball with, Thomas Everett. He was a TB while I was a QB, so we were close. When Grant Teaff recruited him from our school, the first thing they said was "he's not 5'10." Of course, all rosters are printed lies as far as height/weight go. At least in most places.

Thomas started at safety for the Bears at 5'9, then played for a couple of Super Bowls with the Cowboys alongside Woodson. He was a Jim Thorpe Award winner at Baylor and was recently inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also played with the Steelers and Bucaneers. And of course, he made the cover of Sports Illustrated, which he still won't let us forget. lol

You see, at 5'9, Thomas could take off from the foul line and slam dunk with one hand. His athletic ability was/is still insane. And Tim Irvin reminds me A LOT of Thomas Everett.

Thomas was in the famous commercial with Jimmy Johnson. He's #27, in the front seat with Johnson.

From a poster on another site. Mod at that site confirmed in a response.

"Great news to come.  Only I know and you will know when it happens.  Just hold on."

I'm thinking they're talking about a silent commit, one that we're supposedly written off now. And I think his name is Daylon Mack.

Mark..I would not be the least bit surprised but what you're right about Mack. I don't EXPECT it, but it wouldn't shock me.

Regarding Tim Irving....you think he's going to be better than Diggs?? I have a friend that's a high school ref, and he told me that he thought Diggs was the best high school athlete he'd seen in his 25+ years of working high school football.

I have strong doubts that Irving will be any better than Diggs.

I think Diggs is a good comparison. Diggs is a little different, however, because he was a corner by nature and more polished when he arrived in Austin. He is the cousin of Jammer and has been following QJ's footsteps. Remember, Jammer wasn't much taller and went on to have a fabulous career.

All have the key things in common – fearless attitude, natural leader, uncanny instincts, and an extra dose of God-given athletic talent.

But Irvin has a little more of something that the other two do not. The motivation to get out of S Florida and do whatever it takes to be successful. You saw this in Miami players of yesteryear. It's still there, today.

Oh, and on Mack. Has there been a recruit more "all over the place" than Mack (that we're following)? One day it's this, another day it's that. It's a big game. He's having fun. He's changing schools in and out of his list like they're a daily underwear change.

I think he's got a little drama queen in him and wants this to be a shock the world type thing. And it certainly would be if/when he chooses Texas. The reason I think it's Mack is because he's the one guy I'd say most fans think we're no longer in the hunt for, something the mod used in his statement. We weren't in on Kyler, so it's not him. Burt is still in play and most know it. So it's not him. But I think everyone would agree we've recently been led to believe it's over with Mack – being told by Mack himself.

We're in, we're out, we're in – it's the recruiting hokey pokey. lol

Tim Irvin is a midget at 5'9" (and I have heard he is really around 5'8").  A quick midget, to be sure, but a midget never the less - that won't be able to cover tall receivers.  Receivers like Harris for instance.

We would take him, but we shouldn't stress over losing him.  Like I said about Burt and receivers - we have better DB's already on campus.  Wouldn't you agree?

Now, Davis is a different story.
Irvin will play nickel and will be covering the slot receiver, who is generally shorter and quicker receiver, Irvin will match up well against slot receivers and he will destroy anything that comes over the middle. Plus he immediately makes an impact on punt returns. I really hope he sticks.
