2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Remember the Auston Banks walk-on rumor?

Check out a comparison of some of their SPARQs numbers

Ryan Newsome: 5-8, 166 lbs, 4.56 40, 4.15 shuttle, 35.0 PB, 33.9 vertical, 99.36 SPARQ

Auston Banks: 5-7.5, 169 lbs4.48 403.94 shuttle, 34.5 PB, 36.2 vertical116.76 SPARQ

Ian Boyd has caught on to the Auston Banks movement.  This attention is probably not good for our walk-on chances.  If Banks had just kept quiet about it, no one would have known.  But he wants a schollie at a good school so hard to blame him

This tweet has an embed to his film

Here are some of his testing results -- best shuttle time nationwide (at least over everyone tested)

But that wouldn't count toward more numbers from 2015 being used for 2014 would it?
We signed 19 2014s

And will take a full class this year

19 + 31 = 50 (31 total for this season, split into 6 ee's + 25 current class))

Stated another way 50 max in two years

But, what if we only signed 18 in 2014?

Or 17?

Anyone know or think this is incorrect?

I don't care what you say, that's pretty impressive.

He leaves people behind

update -- IT suggests that we are offering Auston Banks "at least" a grayshirt opportunity and not simply preferred walk-on status.

And. FWIW, Watson now follows him on Twitter

Higdon --  "One person is safe but that is it. I have never watched so many things go on behind the scenes as they are right now. So many kids are wanting to jump on board it's actually hard to imagine......

The OV's will be interesting to say the least. The sooner you can get on campus and speak to Charlie Strong behind closed doors the better. Kids are trying to jump on board over the phone and that is not how things work with Texas."

ps -- if you accept the idea that Higdon has long ties to Strong and is "connected," then this expression of sentiment has the feel of Charlie Strong acting in the role of master market manipulator.  Increasing the demand for an asset that is already of extremely limited supply.  Is he really this calculating and crafty?

On the potential Clarington academic issues --

William Wilkerson claims Clarington told him directly his academics were NOT an issue.
He addss that Clarington is a straight forward guy and he has no reason to dount him at this point

And other folks are saying Clarington has already been cleared

Needless to say, Clarington is a key get for a team that hasn't has a tight end since before twitter

Some Tim Irvin comments from BON --

http://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2015/1/6/7505417/tim-irvin-texas-longhorns-commit-florida-five-army-bowl

"They (fellow Florida players) impacted a lot on my decision.  I wanted to go somewhere I feel comfortable and go somewhere that my boys are going. All of us from Florida feel connected to Texas and feel like we're going to rebuild that program......."We used to talk almost every day about this decision.  It was a big decision. When we went on our official visit, that's all we were talking about -- building a Florida pipeline to Texas."

--------------------------------------------------

He makes it clear that he did not decide until the morning of his announcement

"I actually knew it this morning. I talked to my parents about it and that's when I announced to them where I was going to be playing."
"I like that Coach Strong is very passionate. He's a character on and off the field and I can't wait to get up there and play for him."
"I feel like our (the Florida 5) first year we're going to have a big impact.  I feel like if we buy in to Coach Strong's system, we'll do well.

There is a report of there that Ryan Newsome has not been in contact with the staff since Coach Koenning was fired.

Big cigar said he was cleared last night in the humidor

Our own Burnt Ends says Locksley is a locksley for QB

No WR for him

There is a rumor among FSU board "insiders" that Jimbo Fisher may pull the offer to Locksley is he visits Texas

(does this sound like a Mack Brown move?)

More --  besides the fact that Locksley's dad coached with Charlie Strong at Florida, Kai is supposedly close friends with Strong's oldest daughter.

So, plenty of opportunity for under the radar communications.

....... Kids are trying to jump on board over the phone and that is not how things work with Texas."

Here is one of those possibilities --

Four-star wide receiver Van Jefferson has decided to hold off on his early enrollment to Georgia according to a source.

The U.S. Army All-American had been wavering some on his Georgia pledge, but his plan to delay enrollment isn't as ominous for Georgia as it may appear. Jefferson remains committed to the Bulldogs but the Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood native has some math courses that he still has to finish up before enrollment and he also would like to see what Georgia does at the offensive coordinator position.

That is not to say that Georgia is safe either. Jefferson is now likely to take two or three official visits in January and Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are all candidates to get an official. Jefferson may also take another visit to Ole Miss unofficially. He already visited the Rebels officially for an eight-hour trip before the dead period.

Currently Georgia remains the Crystal Ball leader but with a January reset on his recruitment drawing closer, Jefferson will be one of the biggest storylines of the next month.

Charles Omenihu got an offer from Michigan

"I talked to Coach Mattison and he told me I had a scholarship offer.  Michigan is a program I wanted an offer from since I was a kid. They are a very prestigious school. Coach Harbaugh is a cool guy too. I know he has a plan for them and it's a plan I believe in."
Michigan 247^

But then .....

Not saying Strong will, but he can sign up to 28.  Most schools don't because of negative feedback.

NCAA bylaw 13.9.2.3 talks of this.  However, it can get confusing when you start reading more detail on this.  Coaches work the loop holes.  They still have the 85 man scholarship roster to deal with.

At one point, Saban signed 133 in 5 years.  His comment is below.

"Any player that has left this program prematurely has created his own exit route . . . He's created his own conditions for leaving, if that makes any sense, whether they're academic in terms of not doing what he needs to do academically, whether there's some violation in terms of team rule or policy, whatever it is. Some of these things we're not allowed to comment on."

This statement would work for any college coach, not just Saban.
