2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

What does he do? Does he pick the school that's 1,200 miles away? Does he pick the one with no defensive coordinator? Does he settle for his parents' preference?
Settle for UT?  He gone.

Follow up items from the AAS article the other day:

http://longhorns.blog.statesman.com/2014/12/18/a-closer-look-at-malik-jefferson-the-states-top-football-prospect/?ecmp=statesman_social_twitter_2014_bevobeat_sfp

-Jefferson does not plan to inform coaches of his decision prior to Friday’s press conference. So Charlie Strong, Sumlin, and Jim Mora will be finding out at the same time everyone else does.

-Jefferson called Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford “a mean godfather.†“He’s strict. He’s like that mean godfather you have in your life. Not a bad thing. He’s a good coach. They all have good coaches.â€

-Jefferson’s teammate, DeAndre McNeal, has Texas, A&M, and UCLA among his top five. Alabama and Texas Tech are in there as well. He and Jefferson made it clear they are not a package deal. McNeal said he’d like to get into acting, which bodes well for UCLA’s chances. Here’s one of several funny PSA videos McNeal and Jefferson filmed at school.

-Poteet’s principal, Karyn Cummings, who is close with Jefferson, said she expects him to pick an in-state school. As for me, I came away thinking the same thing. If I had to guess, Texas has a slight edge.

So I guess no DC is a good coach  <_<

I may not like Texas A&M because they suck right now. I may not like Texas because they suck. But both have so much potential. That's what I'm looking at now. To be honest, A&M has twice as much potential. - Malik Jefferson, ESPN 300 linebacker
I'd say MJ is right...aggie does have the potential to suck twice as much as UT!

So whats the deal with Darrion Daniels?  A very high rated uncommitted DT, yet I never hear anyone talking about him.  Only has 12 CB predictions and the vast majority of those our from over 6 months ago.  Last 2 predictions have been for Texas Tech.  Why did Texas cool off on him - they seemed to be really interested this summer.

Tomorrow will be an eye opening day for the UT recruiting staff. Most are believing McNeal and Jefferson both go aggy despite their atrosities on the field. Aggy doesn't even have to win to bring in big name recruits. This is just odd to see. I thought A&M recruiting would've taken a huge hit this season. Apparently I was wrong. It appears that aggys reign over recruiting is far from over. We have the better coach and aggy has a better conference and SWAG. stupid, but it's working

The word SWAG isn't beating Texas..when Texas won..it was w swag. That swag comes from perception...perception is that aggy plays in the conf which gets the most players drafted, which they do, they play a more fun offense..which they do, and I know this doesn't appeal to most on here, but they have a less stiff feeling to the program from facilities, barber shops, and crazy, sometime ugly uniforms.

Texas has to get back to winning..I get that aggy isn't winning, but the have the sec

This^^^^^^  Thanks for this post. Winning fixes everything.  And no it won't be fixed quickly, it didn't break quickly

As Aaron Rodgers would say, "Relax".  The goal is to build a program that can contend year in and year out.  Any conclusions regarding this staffs ability to recruit is comical.  The staff is 1-2 years behind in building relationships with players about to commit, being in the conversation alone at this point should give you a hint into their abilities.

I don't get the "more potential" position with aggy.

Even if they signed a class that was 5-star from top to bottom, they'd still be looking at having to play other teams with the same, but who have coaches who make them better.

Even when they had a heisman QB, the best they could do was a mid-division finish.

But hey, MJ will enjoy routing Sam Houston State and SMU.

Sorry folks but if Jefferson thinks Aggy has more potential then it doesn't matter what anyone says to him about Strong versus Sumlin. I really believe he sees himself as the difference maker in the Aggy defense being great. I don't buy it. Not saying he is Perilloux, but the entire circus of his recruiting sure does bring up similarities. In the end, I want his pledge to Texas but I won't get overly excited. Heck, maybe it would pull Mack to Texas.

Saw this on another site and I can't vouch for it's accuracy.

A poster said that Demarco Cobbs was Malik Jefferson's host for his official visit and that Demarco is 5-0.

So we got that going for us.

I agree here. Anyone who feels that aggie has more potential than Texas on defense after the on-field evidence of both teams along with the history of both coaches probably has his mind made already.
