***The Official Texas vs. KSU Game Thread***

Certainly a bad game for us. Namely none of our units showed progress this week and that's the first time it has happened all year. K State is also the best team we have played all year.

I am disappointed like everyone on this board. But I do think there is some hysteria creeping in here.

We have 4 games left if Heard can win us 3 we make a bowl and get extra practice. So it might not be so silly after all.

I would break the shirt. Wins or progress with Heard would be a major selling point to recruits. It is tough to recruit on the offensive side of the ball in the state of Texas if you can't point to a QB that has a proven record for winning/ leading his team to success. This is why Kyler Murray/ Jerrod Heard are so pivotal to A&M and Texas' success in bringing in offensive talent. Those guys are legendary in the high school ranks in this state, and while there isn't any guarantee that they will be successful, I would trust their abilities to win over most others with all things being remotely equal.

I think you have to pull the shirt now. Offense showed nothing today. Swoopes, bless his heart, he's improved by leaps and bounds over last year and even earlier this year. He just doesn't have "it."

You gotta try to salvage the season now and make the most of a bad situation. You have a predictable thing with Swoopes at this point, so you gotta go with Heard and see what he's made of.

A bowl and it's coveted extra practice time are huge for us. So are the recruits we're after and the ones we already have. I cringe at the thought of what John Burt must be thinking right now.

Very strong points. Id have to agree with that assessment.

I've been thinking about this, trying not to jump the gun but at this point you have to burn the red shirt on Heard. After 8 games, I think we see what Swoopes is, a big armed QB who is on the slower side who doesn't like to run and would rather give the ball off on the option read than keep it when he has a clear lane to run. I like the guy but 0 points is 0 points. We need to generate some excitement for this program. We shouldn't worry about burning the red-shirt because of Heard is a star he's not staying here 4 years. It's time to change something. If the season ended today its going to make it really hard to convince any offensive talent to come play in this offense. Let Heard play.

My feelings exactly.

This Heard talk assumes he'd come in and kill it. Everything posted about him anywhere has said he's simply not ready. Very few true FR are ready.

Early in the season, if they were going to play him, maybe. Burning his RS with 4 games to go would be a waste IMO.

Negative. Heard talk comes from "what have we got to lose" department. We're not getting anywhere and if you're content with that, then you have a point.

I'd just like to show something, anything, offensively that would give a team hope, a recruit a reason.

See what he'll do. That's all. We know what Swoopes will do. What else do you need to see?

Sha...plenty of people thought VY didn't have it in his RS FR year. Move him to Wr, remember? That's what this is for swoopes and he has a helluva lot less talent around him then we did in 2003.

I don't know how anybody could say at this point he definitely does or does not have it.

Also, behind this OL may be setting him to fail. I hope they recruit a Juco QB or transfer and we will have three quarterbacks to fight it out for starting QB next year. Hopefully, behind a better OL next year.

This OL is far from great but that does not excuse Swoopes decision making when running read option plays
