the jerrod heard game... just what in the HELL is happening here?

After watching Swoopes, I can't imagine Heard NOT being AS ready with a greater upside and greater chance to win a freaking game !!!! This crap seems more like GDGD and Mack Brown BS to me. Either that, or we are running an offense that requires too damn much thinking...It ain't rocket science. There is only so much a defense can do to stop you. They either run a cover 2,3, or 4 deep zone or man or man free coverage. There ain't nothing else. Formations and motion can tip off what they are in for your QB if he isn't retarded ( sorry for the R word ). Somebody is a dumb-ass....Either Heard or Watson !!!! Take your guess !!!!!

It pisses me off that I'm going to Dallas KNOWING we are going to get our asses handed to us...... With Swoopes, we couldn't even score against Baylor...BAYLOR !!!! We had trouble scoring against Kansas....KANSAS !!!!!  Swoopes was" nervous " at home against Baylor ? He'll shit his pants in the RRR !!!  At least in years past I went up there THINKING we had a chance, even when we weren't very good; or feeling we were going to win when we were good. This year its like going to a funeral. Yep Charlie, you have changed things ....If we take the field on offense and #18 is on the sideline my whole outlook will change. To me it will say, we want to win THIS year, and not just throwing this season away.

I just don't understand this mindset. So you are willing to ruin the next couple of years by burning the shirts of players that aren't ready to play? Sure Strong wants to win this year, but he's sure as hell not going to sacrifice the future even if that means losing a couple extra games. Like Andy Staples said yesterday, you can't judge Strong on this year. He's cleaning house and building for the future. 1 victory over the Sooners means nothing in the long-term. Proper roster management means everything for the future. Ensuring the success of the team in the future and wanting to win now are not mutually exclusive. Strong is doing everything in his power to win now while being smart with the roster.

Agree it was the, non-forward thinking by Mack and company that got us in this situation.

This is chess not checkers, when thinking beyond just this year.

It is painful to watch though.

So Sept 5th 2015, you want to run Heard onto the field in South Bend with absolutely NO experience ? THAT I don't understand. The other option is letting this kid who has no business QBing a D-1 team flounder yet again. That is my point. Its not JUST the OU game I am concerned about. It is the future, and letting Heard SIT is not getting us ready for the future. If he is good he isn't staying around for his Senior year anyway, and if he isn't good, better to find out asap.

He's getting experience against probably the best D he would see in practice. It might take a little while for Heard to get in the groove once he hits the field, but that's all part of the process. Getting experience in a makeshift offense isn't going to do much good anyways. Matter of fact, it would probably teach him bad habits like scrambling out of the pocket constantly due to poor blocking. He needs to get reps in practice to learn the speed at this level, learn the playbook, etc. Game time right now for Heard wouldn't do that much good IMO.

You mean like Johny Manziel or Jameis Winston did? Those guys were both red shirted and did pretty decent without playing their true freshman seasons.

Not to mention sometimes when you try to find out too soon, you can cause more harm than good. Then you have the fact where some were horrible when they first tried to play and by the end they were NFL caliber.

Not, saying he is going to succeed or not, but there is not one true proven path of success for a young QB.
