Update on this offer --  We offered LB Semaj Thomas over the summer, but he was seen as sticking with TCU.

He is now saying he wants to take visits - including us and ou -- after his season is over.

“I talk to their linebackers coach. He tells me how Texas is a great program. The way they have their linebackers. They tell me I’m a pretty good fit about their program. I like that Charlie Strong is trying to clean up a lot of bad things happening at Texas. He’s trying to rebuild the program. Their linebackers are pretty good. They have a pretty good defense. Education wise it's pretty good.â€

Pretty much the norm after any visit. It goes something like this. Question, did you enjoy your visit? Yes. Question, are rethinking your commitment to Texas? I really enjoyed my visit to Auburn, and it really has me rethinking my options. That's pretty much how these things go after every visit.

I'll say this,  Burt tweeted "Yall have nothing to worry about" right after the Auburn visit announcement was made. He was also retweeted nothing but Longhorn stuff on his visit to Auburn.

I guess there's a chance that Burt could decommit. But a writer for an Auburn site saying "Burt is rethinking his decision" really doesn't scare me one bit. Burt said essentially the same thing after his visits to Florida State.

Question for anybody. It seems like we have a good group of receivers coming in. Do you think poor QB play with make any of them rethink their decision?

I don't think so. Newsome is always raving about Heard on Twitter. Matter of fact, he compared him to Vince Young a while back. It obviously didn't impact Hemphill's decision. The only one I'm not sure about is Burt. Based on what I've seen from Newsome and Hemphill they both know Heard is a stud and it's just a matter of time until he takes the field. There's a reason when Newsome visited Heard showed him around on campus.

I forgot about Johnson. I don't think poor QB play will impact his decision either. Johnson and Gentry seem like they already have a good connection. I think everyone kind of knows that Heard and Gentry are the future. Granted, I still think Swoopes has potential but I'm not sold on him as the starter. At one point, I was starting to lean that way but my opinion has changed somewhat after Kansas and Baylor.

Can Auburn flip 4-star receiver John Burt from Texas?

16013443-mmmain.jpg

AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn continues to pursue four-star receiver prospect John Burt, despite his commitment to Texas. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder made his fourth visit to Auburn this weekend for the LSU game and came away impressed.

"It went really well," Burt said. "That was my first official visit and everything went pretty much as expected, from what I've heard official visits go. I had a real good time. It was a real good experience."

The question on everyone's minds: Does Auburn have a shot at pulling him away from the Longhorns?

"After talking to Coach (Gus) Malzahn, Coach (Rhett) Lashlee and Coach (Dameyune) Craig, I just have to go home and talk with my family to see where we are," Burt said. "I'm not really saying that they could, I'm not saying they could not. I just have to analyze everything that I've heard this weekend. Everything's really up in there at this point. I'm committed to Texas right now, who knows whether or not that could change. I'm not really sure."

Burt said one of Auburn's main factors in recruiting him is the chance to play with an emerging star in quarterback Jeremy Johnson.

"It's funny, Coach Malzahn was saying, since I was in the stands, 'We have to pass the ball, show John what we got!' I thought the receiver play was really good last night. Sammie Coates had that really big catch that he scored on early in the game in double coverage. Overall they're pretty set, they know what to do at the receiver position."

Auburn's program stability compared to Texas is another factor the Tiger coaches discussed with Burt. Auburn remained undefeated at 5-0 with Saturday's win over LSU while the Longhorns fell to Baylor and dropped to 2-3 under first-year head coach Charlie Strong.

"Is it a concern? A little bit. Is it unexpected? Not really," Burt said. "They just got a new coaching staff and let a whole bunch of people go and a whole bunch of suspensions. You really can't expect a team that's going through all this to perform they way they should be and expected to. Do I think they'll bounce back? Yes, I think they are going to. As far as how much time that's going to take, I'm not sure."

Burt committed to Texas in July over fellow finalists Auburn and Florida State. The Seminoles have backed off since, and Auburn and Texas are the only two schools Burt is considering.

Saturday's game was the second time Burt has seen the Tigers in action at Jordan-Hare Stadium. He also attended last season's Iron Bowl and may return for the South Carolina game Oct. 25.

"Nothing compares to the Iron Bowl, but for a regular SEC game like that, especially against LSU, I really liked the atmosphere," Burt said. "They have really good fans. Before the game when I saw the Tiger Walk, that was probably my favorite part besides the game. Everybody was loud with the chants and all that."

Burt is ranked as the nation's No. 13 receiver in the 247Sports Composite. Check out his highlights and cast your vote in our poll below.

Wouldn't be surprised if we lost him. Couldn't blame him too much either. It's hard for a young guy to look at what we are doing and get excited. Sure the coaches are telling him their vision for what they want to do, but other schools are showing him what they are actually doing. It's going to be an uphill battle.

I can't blame skill players, either, for being skeptical about this offense.  There hasn't been much to get excited about.  Right now, Auburn has to be a much more attractive option for Burt.
