Anyone got a favorite spot in Kansas?

I've only been to Kansas City once and what I remember is that they were pretty proud of the barbecue. That's all I've got....

Arthur Bryant's or Gates bbq would be well-worth your trip.  Both are staples (and competing joints) in KC.

Jack Stack BBQ. It's not the cheapest in town, but it IS the best IMO. It's just real hard to think of BBQ in a white tablecloth type place.  Also, for steak, I recommend Pierpont's in Union Station.

I'll second Jack Stack. Gates & Arthur Bryant's are just OK compared to Jack Stack. You should try all three and report back. But IMHO, Jacks was good and the others leaned more on their history & "fame"

than their quality of 'cue.

McDonalds for breakfast

Hardee's for lunch

Sensible place for dinner, like the Country Buffet

Taco Bell for fourth meal

Level 1.
Easy there Boss. I don't think Matt is operating on some kind of lush, high roller budget. We need to keep things in the proper perspective.

Headed for lunch at Jack Stack's before the airport. I'm counting on being in a food coma during both flights.

For dinner, I'm headed to Smokin' Guns BBQ....and, yes, I'm taking the camera.  :P

We went to Smokin' Guns BBQ, I give it a definite thumbs down. Not good at all in our opinion, brisket, pork, turkey and sauage not good at all however burnt ends decent.
