If I were a betting man I would take the over in a heartbeat.

Something will have to go really wrong for Texas to lose games against North Texas, Iowa State, Kansas, West Virginia and TCU. I would be really surprised if we lost any of those games. That puts Texas at 5 wins.

IMO Texas is a better team on paper then Kansas State, Tech, BYU and Oklahoma State. I could see us dropping a game here but at minimum I think we pick up 2 wins out those 4. I don't think 3 wins out of 4 here is crazy. That puts Texas at 7 or 8 wins.

The next grouping is OU and Baylor. I don't think we win both these games, but it wouldn't surprise me if we pick up a win out of the 2. Baylor is a completely different team away from home and OU is overrated IMO.

Finally, UCLA. UCLA is the only team on paper that is far superior but they are beatable. I think we probably lose this game though.

Without being a homer, I'd definitely take the over. I think this is a 8 win team at least.

Same here. Utisdabomb spelled it out perfectly. We should have 5 "gimmes". After that, we are better than Tech and OKState. We should beat BYU at home. KState is in Manhattan so that will be tough. UCLA, OU and Baylor are upset hopefuls. I, too, think UCLA will be our toughest game.

This topic is getting a lot of airtime on Austin sports radio. It seems like an easy bet, but Vegas is not in the business of losing money. There must be plenty of national people that are looking at the last 4 years and betting the under.

Vegas makes its money on the vigorish.  The Longhorn nation will make sure there is plenty.

As a Longhorn Fanatic I agree with the over.

But if I were not a Longhorn Fan, I could point to a number of counters....

Number of suspensions and releases...

David Ash standing on a Banana, with no experience or known quality to fill in.

Secondary very suspect

Apparently want to move to ground control slow down attack, Oline has never demonstrated they can deliver the goods on that one, when the other team knows we want to run. This in a high octane must win some shootouts league

Injuries and depth at WR

Depth at RB, MB has gotten tweek type hurt often and JG coming off serious injury,

I think we will get some positive surprises,....out of the potential pitfalls above and win 9 or 10, ....but if 2 or 3 above issues head south, not out of the realm.

Au Contraire, mi ami.

I'm hearing - secondary will be fine and our OL will be one of the best in the conference.  I'm not trying to post up on you, as your comment on the state of the team is the popular narrative.  However, most negative reports can be attributed to the residue of coach speak and not necessarily the way things truly are.  For instance - I'm hearing FSU's offense is struggling against its own defense.  Do you think FSU will have problems on offense this year?

Our team is going to be salty - particularly our defense.  Our offense teeters on being average to very good - depending on injuries and suspensions.  This is no secret.  The untold story is how good will the offense be?  I think we will be pleasantly surprised because we finally have some real hosses on our OL.  Mark my words.

Every team in America has problems - even FSU.  No team is perfect and DEPTH rules the season.  And by depth, I mean quality depth.

This years team won't be as good as next year and next years won't be as good as 2016.

  The future is bright.
