Brandon Lyon competes for deep snapper job at Navarro

[Aaron Carrara]

Brandon Lyon, son of Mark Lyon (aka Sirhornsalot), is playing college football at the JUCO level.  I had a chance to talk with Brandon and Coach Brian Mayper on Tuesday evening about the team and the deep snapper role at Navarro.

Congratulations to Mark and Brandon!

Congrats! Awesome stuff!

Great testament to Brandon not to panic on NSD and keep working for the next opportunity.

Brandon sounded very upbeat on Tuesday! Having the time of his life, I'm sure!

When I took Brandon down Tuesday, it hit me when he was walking away from me that last time that he was now embarking on his own journey. My role has changed. I was no longer holding his hand. His hand had outgrown mine.

Brandon is my youngest so this one was a bit tougher for me.

Thank you Aaron, Matt, that was just awesome. I know you took a step off the beaten path to feature my son's story and I really appreciate that.

I can't imagine how bittersweet that must have been.

Thoughts like that help me appreciate my Dad even more.

Chevoski Collins is going to play at Navarro this Fall. It will be interesting to hear what Brandon has to say about him.

[Sirhornsalot]

I will ask Brandon about him this evening when I talk to him.
