NCAA May Allow Top Conferences to Play By Their Own Rules

Change is coming

For many of the same reasons we've seen conference realignment and divisional segregation.  The haves don't want to share equally with the have nots.  It's really that simple.

Now if you'd like to review the "progressive" POV on this, here's an article from The Chronicle advocating Federal intervention.

If the 'haves' share equally with the 'have nots' does that mean that:

     1)  All ticket prices are equal

     2)  All donations are split equally, or, are they 'separate property'

     3)  The 'have nots' have a designated time frame to invest in their stadiums

     4)  The 'have nots' are forced to give up football if they cannot put a certain number of butts in the stadium

When did Congress improve anything?  How many pages is Obamacare?

Nothing recently comes to mind.  A gazillion?  ;)

I believe the NCAA is an outdated, bloated, and ineffectual bureaucracy.  The "Power 5" conferences have very little in common with smaller schools, including most FCS (D-1AA) programs.  Having said that, do I like the direction P5 conferences are headed?  No

IMO, top-level CFB has become less "collegiate" over time.  A "scholar-athlete" taking nothing but online classes?  The university paying for a "scholar-athlete's" insurance policy to protect his NFL future?  Really?

How is either scenario a "hardship" case or aligned with the university's educational mission?  I love CFB, but I'm with K-State's Bill Snyder concerning the path we're on.  "I think we've lost sight of what college athletics is all about."

I agree.  The hardship case was Sumlin's line.

I find it interesting that the disability insurance is addressed in the proposed changes.  Why is it in proposed changes if A&M is already doing it?

The 75 need to vote it down. Let  the power conferences split and form a new division. The small schools need their own championship anyway.
