The 2015 Dual threat QB just committed to the Seminoles. Texas had a shot at him but FSU prevails.

Francois is suppose to commit today. Florida State has pretty much told both players that they are only taking the first player that commits. So Francois is either A) picking someone else other than FSU or B )  This is about to get weird.

after all of the money that he spent on TEXAS gear at the co-op.  wow kai.  just wow!

Darn, good day for FSU

Deondre Francois opts for FSU

While Florida State has Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston for at least one more season, the future of the quarterback position is up for grabs.

The Seminoles added another player to the race with the commitment of ESPN 300 No. 55 Deondre Francois, who announced his decision Thursday at his high school.

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound Elite 11 participant and No. 4 dual-threat prospect in the 2015 class selected the defending national champions over Auburn.

The Seminoles were considered the favorite for the majority of the recruitment, but Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee all made runs at the Under Armour All-America selection at various times since the end of the 2013 season.

Francois played his junior season at Olympia High in Orlando, but transferred in the spring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, where he now plays for former Florida State quarterback and 2000 Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke.

Francois joins fellow ESPN 300 signal-caller De'Andre Johnson in the Seminoles' 2015 class, and just minutes before Francois' announcement, quarterback Kai Locksley, son of Maryland assistant Mike Locksley, also committed to the Noles.

Once on campus, Francois and Johnson will compete with current Florida State backup quarterbacks Sean Maguire, John Franklin III and J.J. Cosentino for the starting position after Winston heads to the NFL. While Locksley could play quarterback, he'll likely head to Tallahassee as an athlete prospect.

Florida State is working on a seventh straight top-10 recruiting class, and the commitment of Francois adds to the continued momentum. The Seminoles remain in contention for a number of top uncommitted prospects, including five-stars No. 1 Josh Sweat, No. 2 Byron Cowart, No. 7 CeCe Jefferson and No. 10 George Campbell.

With Francois now headed to Tallahassee, all 19 quarterback prospects in the ESPN 300 have committed.

Disagree, there's a good chance his father could be fired as OC, better he stays away.

My choice of Maryland was not about his Dad coaching there, It has more to do with who is on the roster at FSU & Texas, plus Maryland being in a new conference. If his heart is set on QB, I think he could really boost the Terps first few years in the league.

I think our coaches knew this already, that's why we offered a lot of 2016 QB's, he was not going to play QB here anyway.

I'm still kinda surprised. He really seemed to be leaning this way. I pretty much had him penciled in here...good thing it was in pencil. More fish in the sea.

obviously, his "heart" is on being an immediate superstar vs a hard working quarterback.  the world is indeed learning a lot, regarding today's ultra glamorous recruits.  they abhor the hard work.  but they rejoice upon the star status!

I don't necessarily agree with that. The most likely reason in my mind that he chose FSU over Md and Texas is because he just liked it more. Moreover, if he cared about getting on the field more than working hard, he would have chosen Maryland according to rosters. To me, it seems like he's not afraid of competition and is ready to work hard to be a quarterback.
