Harrison, Estelle and Daje are the rumors on 247. Jeff Howe is saying the hammer may have been dropped.

Strong isn't screwing around.

Speculation so far, we shall see.

Jeff Howe's recent post on 247.

"None of my sources are confirming anything at this time. Apparently there was a report out this morning about player suspensions. That report has apparently been amended to reflect that no suspensions have occurred.

I'm working to see if there's anything there other than what we already know: there are a few guys on thin ice."

Sounding like Chip and Howe are backing off their early reports. Sounding like all 3 players are on thin ice but nobody has been suspended/dismissed yet.

I loathe modern sports journalism.
Sports journalism is a joke. Nothing but confirmation bias.

It sounds like the rumor just started over on the premium boards about Daje, Harrison, and Estelle being cut (Chip's name was mentioned). That created a rumor mill that trickled down to Howe who then said "I'm hearing the hammer may have been dropped". I don't think Chip has even said the players have been suspended (his name has just been mentioned on premium boards).

I'm probably perpetuating the problem but I thought when Howe made the report there was something here. SMH.

In fairness to Jeff Howe, . . .. he works hard to avoid confirmation bias. . . . Chip's been guilty of it since the Dallas Morning News days. . .

That's true but Howe shouldn't have started a thread where he said "I'm hearing the hammer might have been dropped" until he confirmed with his sources. Now Howe is saying the complete opposite of that. Recent comment by Howe on 247. "No action taken in that manner. All players in question are believed to have met with Strong. Feeling from the person I talked to is that everyone is on the same page going forward. We'll see if anything comes of this." Howe heard that players might have been suspended and he ran with it before confirming with his sources.

I don't see anything wrong with starting that thread.

I would have waited to start the thread until I confirmed with my sources. If he was "hearing that the hammer was dropped" and it wasn't from his sources, who was it? Sounds like Howe was just running with internet rumor. I don't have a big problem with it though.

People on other boards are also saying Chip Brown is backing way off his previous comments. It's now apparently, "3 players could potentially be facing suspension." Again, I'm not sure if Chip Brown has even said if players have been or will be suspended. This is what people are saying on paysites. For all I know Chip may not have said anything on the matter, but it seems like Chip is backing way off his previous statements (according to people on other boards).

Starting to lose more and more respect for Chip Brown.

Just now on the Horn, "My sources tell me that 3 more players face the possibility of suspension but nothing has happened yet". Sounds like he's hedging big time.

If this was the first time this has happened with Chip I might be willing to give him some leeway, but this is a reoccurring problem with Chip.

The power of word placements.

We have gone from "suspended" to facing suspension if they screw up one more time.

I'll give Howe a little credit, he never said the players were suspended. Simply, that he was hearing the hammer was dropped. Howe quickly followed up that his sources said no suspensions had taken place.

Chip Brown on the other hand seems to be completely hedging on his previous reports. To say that "Daje, Estelle, and Harrison are facing possible suspension" isn't news. They are on thin ice, everyone knows that. The only reason you would say that is to hedge on a previous comment/get clicks on  his website.
