3PM but not sure on the timezone. The Auburn boards think this is all Texas. The Auburn mod on 247 even crystal balled Burt to Texas yesterday afternoon.

straight to the 40 acres!

Burton over at 247 said we should be getting good news today on Burt. He normally doesn't put these type of statements out in the open so pretty sure this is a done deal.

Well, I have heard that he is visiting the Austin area for a week, apparently he has family here, but it would be peculiar if he were to announce, and he announced for somewhere other than Texas just before staying here for a week ... well, that would be a bit peculiar.

I believe his grandmother is or was a dean for some department at Texas.

While I am thrilled .. . . still a long time till signing day . . .not to be negative nellie. . . .do love the direction of all this. . .

If he sticks, he's likely better than Roy Williams. . . .

If so, then it will be the first verbal commit at WR since Armanti Foreman on June 27, 2013.

John Burt commits to Texas

Texas coach Charlie Strong goes out-of-state- to nab one of the top wideouts in the Class of 2015, Lincoln HS's John Burt.

More on the 4-star pass-catcher from Tallahassee, Florida.

Charlie Strong has relationships established in the state of Florida. Today, he grabbed one of the state's best in 4-star WR, John Burt. Burt will call Austin home in the fall of 2015. He committed to Texas today via Twitter.

After speaking with Burt, it was obvious Texas was on top.

"Coach Vaughn (Texas DB coach) might be the coolest coach I talk to," Burt told Inside Texas at The Opening in Oregon. "Texas is definitely in my Top 3 and I'll be visiting Austin on July 28th," Burt told IT three weeks ago. Now, they are in his Top 1.

"I think Charlie Strong can win championships and I really think his philosophy can work at UT," said Burt during an interview at The Opening. "When my recruitment started, (UT) was always a team I wanted to get an offer from. I just like everything about the university."

Burt has family in Austin. His grandmother (mother's mom) and aunt live in the area. That's very comforting for Burt's mother, Mrs. Matthews.

"We'd really like John in Austin," said Mrs. Matthews, Burt's mother. "My mother and sister could look out for him there."

Burt, 6-foot-1, 180 lbs, chose Texas over Florida State, Auburn, and Miami. He also held offers from Alabama, LSU, Louisville, Ohio State, and Florida.

Burt is the 13th commit and first WR pledge in the Class of 2015 for Strong and the Longhorns. He's the first WR commit for UT since Texas City's Armanti Foreman on 6/27/13, per IT's Eric Nahlin.

With the likelyhood that wide receivers, Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander, will no longer be playing at Texas, Burt becomes even more valuable. I look for UT to add 2-3 more receivers in this class.
