This is a post/thread from OB that I thought worth sharing. . .

Worth posting in light of some of the comments over here. . .

Hornsnhouston-Just wanted to say thank you to Steve Patterson Replyfor hiring a man of great integrity like Coach Strong. We may not win a Big12 or natty for awhile, but Coach Strong will turn this into a program that we can all be really proud of. Clearly the right man for our "perfect storm". Keep up the great work --both of you!

The news of the dismissals today has for me, been disappointing...though they did "violate team rules".  Rules are rules and you've got to abide by them.  But knowing "a man of great integrity like Coach Strong" is in charge and running the show...that gives me hope that the future of UT Football is bright and on the correct course.  Coach Strong will return the UT Football program to where we want it to be. Winning football games with players with great character and great moral values. Winning football games with athleticism and toughness, with players who are winners not only on the gridiron but in all facets of their lives. Getting their degrees from UT and just being "great people".  Some will play pro ball and make the big money, most will not.  I just want Longhorn players to be "winners" in all of their lives and represent The University in  a manner that they and we can all be proud of.

Hook 'em Horns!

The important thing to remember is that less than 2% of CFB football players make it to the NFL.

IMHO, teams like A&M do prospective students a disservice by only selling that dream and "swag".  Find kids that are serious about earning that T-ring and walking across the stage at commencement.  While I believe Mack did a good job emphasizing this fact, I think he got complacent and lost his edge the past 4 years.  Time to get back to our DKR roots.

Agreed .. .

Another thing the nintendo crowd does not realize. . . .character kids are the ones you want on either side of you in a tough 4th quarter. . .

I'd rather our squad more closely mirror Snyder's K-State teams than Stoop's OU.

Just sayin'

Maybe Strong can get a 2002 Fiesta Bowl wind breaker and wear it on game day like Snyder. Keys to victory: a game managing QB, and a vintage bowl game jacket.

*chuckle*...I think K-State's style of play is National Championship caliber if we recruit and develop talent like I believe we will. CFS will be rockin' the mock turtleneck.

Strong defense (no pun intended) and a running game managed by a capable QB. Sounds good to me. Now, do we as loyal Horns fans have to sport the Charlie Strong mock turtle neck in 100 heat? The Tressel sweater vest and tie clad Ohio St fans come to mind!
